Not a great way to sell someone on a show, when you suggest it would be better to watch at 1.5 speed. While Resident Evil for most part has schlocky dialogue,it didn't have cringey pop culture references peppered into it. It just seems like your standard Netflix show and I won't be shocked if it isn't picked up for another season.

The casting choice isn't really anything to worry about when spoiler[ in Revelations 2 it is revealed that Wesker was one of many that were artificially created. The main baddie is essentially his sister, but could also be considered a female Wesker.] It's not even a stretch if you're aware of lore beyond the main games.

I mostly just read Zootopia porn. I wanted to last to the point this line from the leaked script was said and got lucky about 20 minutes in. I still finished the pilot and fast-forwarded through EP 2 and 6-8 to have some context for my brain to file. If this is a good show, then so is Batwoman and any other current CW dreck. Halo is at least watchable with high and lowlights. Nothing of value besides a too good to be in here Lance Riddick can be found and his material mostly blows. The scene in E7 where he plays "game" Wesker is next level I tell you. All the other actors are terrible but no one could have delivered their dialogue convincingly. Even the okay-looking CG creatures don´t look convincing as someone failed to have the digital plate match the other footage. The show also cuts away from the creatures or uses POV shots to save money and don´t get me started on how unprofessional some of the costumes and sets look. All the action scenes I saw were badly choreographed and the constant pop songs are a meme in their own right. RE games have some of the most iconic horror scores in the history of the medium but only Christophe Gans had the common sense to hire game composers while adapting a videogame.
Make as many Welcome to Raccoon City sequels as needed if this is the alternative. RE 2002 has exactly 13 minutes before it all goes tits up with the Not-Stars Team mansion raid. WtRC goes belly up at minute 27 with the air siren. RE 2022 has nothing to offer to the world or to the IP. BE ASHAMED OF WHAT YOU ARE Constantin Film. You are 0/3 with your 3 live-action continuities. Capcom at least made Resident Evil: Damnation through their middling CG productions. A C+ film! Konami of all people commissioned a solid Silent Hill film. Adapting RE isn´t brain surgery. It should be a walk in the park but no. A D- is the best we can get. Put a bullet in Constantin and find a better production studio Capcom. The reputation of your most valuable IP is being devalued. No one´s first introduction to RE should be any of the adaptations. |

The racists are actually right for once here. Wesker was born to 2 regular intellect parents and then "adopted" by Spencer as a kid in the late 60s or so. Spencer is an old-world eugenicist obsessed with becoming an Über Mensch. (Umbrella was supposed to be founded by Nazis before CV´s rewrite. British aristocrats started it after the rewrite.) Wesker is a eugenics experiment. NOT a genetic experiment. It's why the 2 known Weskers and Spencer look related. Spencer wanted to create a world in his image. Wesker looking like Leni Riefenstahl´s wet dream is the point. Wesker more importantly instigated a genocide in Africa and has legit racist lines in RE5. Game Wesker being anything other than caucasian ruins his character, opens up giant plotholes and dilutes the underlying evil behind the original Umbrella. It would also be deeply insensitive but this show has nothing to do with the games outside of meme-y shout-outs so who cares. I myself am half African and this ain´t the representation I want. Eugenics can stay a white man´s game: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Galton (Of course, he was British .) Series creator Andrew Dabb isn´t a racist. He is simply a hack. I wonder if Lance Reddick would have taken the job if he researched the games. RE5´s cutscenes and the wiki entry on Project W would have been enough. He didn´t. He simply watched the RE films and wants the show to bring in Alice. Of course. Dabb ruined Supernatural. He ruined RE. Let´s see what he will get to do next. Well, I won´t. PS: Wesker´s VAs making Wesker´s voice more British game by game was hilarious. |

I haven't watched the show, and there's not much incentive for me to watch it, anyway. At least if the reception were a little more mixed in general, maybe I'd take a weekend off to catch up to the show, but everyone and their mother is saying it sucks, so I'm not gonna bother.
To be honest, if the trailers looked even a little bit like the Welcome To Racoon City movie (which I enjoyed a lot) even if the story was as bad as this show's, I'd watch it, no matter how bad people thought it was. |

This is such an important aspect to the character that uptil you mentioned it I never made that connection nor saw any of the people complaining about them changing his ethnicity referencing it either.
With there being two mindsets with regards to the tone and atmosphere of the games themselves and in turn what any live action property based should/would adapt it kind of isn’t.
You think they care about this? They were fine with the original live action films as they made money and then you have Resident Evil 6 which is widely considered by fans to be where the series faltered (yet they released multiple ports years after the original release).
Well many of them are not going to jump into the games and probably not the CG movies. |

Really? The pretty humongous gaming Discord (attached to one of UK's bigger gaming websites) I'm on had people almost constantly cracking jokes about how the Resident Evil series is so inclusive that it's hellbent on showing us how even black people can be genocidal eugenics-obsessed psychopaths. Nobody took issue with the casting of Lance Reddick per se, what everyone took issue with is that they cast him as a character whose backstory is that he was raised in a secret evil orphanage to be the biggest genocidal eugenics-obsessed fascist of them all. I mean, it's easy to forget this because most of Wesker's in-game presence is him punching zombies in Mercenaries mode, but worshiping the Nazi racial policy like a Bible is literally his entire character. It doesn't sound like the TV-series improves on that very well either. |

is Resident Evil still a popular brand? I don't know why they keep making these Hollywood adaptations.

^ RE Village (the latest video game) won several awards, and the remakes are also very good sellers

This is only an issue if you think only white people can be racist or partake in eugenics. And I can assure you that is not the case. If your only reason for disliking the casting is it might paint certain groups in an unfavorable light or something then that's on your end. In general I think race-swapping of any character is dumb, but it's a fact of life when it comes to American adaptions that people should expect by now. But let's also not try to jump through the mental gymnastics to try to justify it in some cases but not others. Or we can just be glad it's not a thing when it comes to anime adaptions and a problem that only pops up when it comes to western media. |

What I want to know why anybody even watches these shitty live action adaptions of anime that crapflix does? They're not worth the time it takes to watch them.

If you're looking for a literal adaptation of the game, this is 0% that but it's pretty solid for B-movie zombie horror.
I thought it was dumb fun. I never gave a shit about RE lore though and am someone who thinks it's cool that there's 2 very different takes on FMA out there and like 4 different Death Notes to enjoy. |

Did the Reviewer actually watch all 8 Episodes- in their entirety mind-?
The writing just got worse with each passing episode. I'll not list all the WTF continuity errors just plain dumb mistakes. (But a prime example is future Jade asking future Billie what happened to their father- just dumb.) Really seemed like a quarter finished script was dusted off and was finished on the go in order to hold an IP. The lead playing older Jade ... holding one's face when struggling at pretend crying is not "good" dramatic acting. Lance was the best part of the show, even is Blade cosplay was ok. |

It's like people still haven't learned from Tiger King - a show can have bad reviews.......... and Netflix watchers won't care! |

To the lore hounds the game have been breaking continuity ALL the time hell 4 REMAKE Leon is now scared and not action hero the cg films and games have all been playdohing the lore and said lore has zombie beach idols and zombie girls high and the plot of RE 6 NONE OF IT MATTERS. And that is fine let makers do their own thing and a reminder that Resident Evil has never had good writing or do you need a reminder on the "master of unlocking"
