is [Loid] not taking [Yor] down because he doesn't want to upset Anya's story, or is it because he actually can't? I'm betting more on the former,

Oh you sweet, summer child.

Loid is definitely skilled and can definetly fight. But Yor spoiler[is freaking super human.]

But more importantly, I need everyone to read the manga just so they can understand how utterly incredible this episode was in comparison to the original. They really, really outdid themselves for this. Keep in mind Chapter 6 that was adaptes by episode 5 was only 25 pages and yet they dedicated the entire episode to it. For comparison, Episode 1 was chapter 1 of the manga, which was 70 pages long.

Yeah, Loid is absolutely a skilled fighter - as seen with him taking on multiple opponents this episode, and also in episode two - but Yor most definitely outclasses him in strength and skill. Remember: Loid's only option for taking out that stampeding cow in episode 4 was to pull out his gun. Yor needed two fingers on each hand.

Agreed that this episode was a great effort by the anime team. The chapter in the manga is a fun little bit of comedy before getting to the school stuff, and the expanded it here to be a total delight. It's fun to see more of Franky's cartoon villain act, and the absolute delight on Anya's face through the whole adventure was wonderful. A great example of anime-original material done right.

Don't you just love how they take what was basically a gag chapter and turn it into a really fun full episode? That's the markings of an S-tier adaption.

A part of me wonders if Loid pulled some strings to make a kid withdraw, but I love how Yor's first instinct was to murder someone to ensure Anya got in.

Franky in the running for best uncle. Sure, he was partially trying to screw Loid over, but he seemed to genuinely want to make Anya happy.

No expense wasted if it's for the sake of Loid's daughter, even if it is utterly embarrassing. And his fellow agents all take it seriously because they could never imagine Twilight being otherwise.

Loid manhandling those agents and his fight with Yor were superbly animated. Also, that background OST was sick.

I'm not surprised Yor couldn't hold her liquor, but her gulping down that wine and them dragging an obviously drunk woman along for this whole thing was hilarious. And then she doesn't get a role. And then she does get a role and almost kills Loid! Good thing she was too tipsy to balance in her heels properly.

Well, actually the heel broke which is a common enough occurrence when fighting, as Princess Endorsi can attest (ToG). This episode was an absolute delight and if not done absolutely perfectly would have fallen flat as being totally unbelievable. A spy-themed Disneyland-like resort one can rent out for events would be insane (how paraniod are the people there??) but for those like me who were into the '60's spy shows like The Avengers, Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Prisoner, etc. would have been heaven! Loved that the humor was built on the misunderstanding that anything Twilight needed was seriously National Top Priority and the couple of agents "fanboying" over him was a great counterpoint to Anya's reactions. Definitely a high point for anime.

Now, looking forward to next week, we get to see what Anya's sly smile in the ED animation is for. Love that adorably evil look... Twisted Evil

Ms. Silverman- Being a "spy" I didn't miss that note in his dossier even before reading the review but fun to see you didn't either! After all, he knew the location of the Councilor's daughter's moles because these things are important ! Another sign of the subtle skill and humor used in making this show great...

Count Scruffy Scruff...Wan!

But really, those feelings are nothing compared to the sheer magnitude of embarrassment that Loid experiences when he ends up having to act out an episode of Anya's favorite cartoon in a theme park/castle…in front of every agent his spy network employs. His face reminds me of my dad's when he let my sisters and I sit under the conference table at work and when everyone stood up they all realized that we'd been busy putting chicken mcnuggets™ in their cuffs.

It seems you led an interesting childhood.....

I'm surprised they didn't do more with the waiting list, they spend the first third of the episode introducing the situation just to have it resolved right away with a simple phone call. Feel like they could have easily stretched that out for an entire episode.

Another thing to note in the past two episodes, given the manga's predilection for designer chairs on the cover (also alluded to in the ED), is that the Forgers have a large framed poster of the Eames DSR chair on their wall.

No mention of the homage to Castle of Cagliostro that was the whole rescue-the-princess scenario? Frankie even looks a bit like Cagliostro.

This was an absolute DELIGHT of an episode. I haven’t read the manga, but hearing that it’s a short chapter that was greatly expanded makes a lot of sense - clearly someone involved saw this and realized it’d be extremely fun in animation, especially since the stakes are so nonexistent and the characters are taking it dead seriously. It’s great. Yor’s so drunk she isn’t asking any questions about all these colleagues of his, and Twilight’s just rolling with it because he bought the yoga cover story for being able to immobilize a cow. Franky’s clearly having the time of his life because who DOESN’T want to be a cartoon villain for the amusement of a spy-obsessed six-year-old? (Making your super-cool spy contact look silly is a bonus.) It might be a bit over-the-top for Twilight, but on the other hand, it’s fun and they all needed to blow off steam after the interviews.

I don't have any gushing that hasn't already been gushed, but felt the need to make a post gushing about the latest episode nonetheless. This reply constitutes that post.

Loved the episode. Studio Wit delivers some good coreographies in a lot of movements. I heard this episode was extended from the manga but it at least helped to develop more the bond between Twilight and Anya.

Re: Previous comments; Fair points all around, but I still would have liked more bonding time.

Another great episode this week. Wouldn't have pegged Yor as such a lush lol

There's really no shortage of that in this series. Anya and Yor will be getting some bonding time soon, so don't worry.

I don't find the series as the second coming like so many people, though, it's quite entertaining.

What are you thinking of as the "first coming," then? People really like Spy x Family because it's a really fun series... there's nothing deeper than that.

Re, Loid and Yor's fighting power: guidebook recently came out, while Loid is more resourceful, Yor is WAY stronger than him physically.
