I remember when the English title was first announced, Reibun Ike (the author) was pretty unhappy about it, but she has since deleted her tweets expressing such.

Honestly I can imagine her displeasure, it kind of bothers me that the manga seemingly got so popular (ie NYT best seller) on the basis of "title funny" (and I'm not even a fan of the series)

Methinks nobody that worked there wrote that. It's more likely that someone came in, stole one of the little recommendation stands off some other book, got another card to put in the stand and made this as a joke. Or maybe someone that quit that day or got fired did it on their way out. Either way, I don't think anyone's losing a job because I bet whoever the culprit is didn't have a job there to lose.
