The difference is this is canon with the main series, as it uses Ash, Go and Dawn.
It's kind of hilarious Dawn has basically overtaken Misty as the main female companion the writers bring back. I obviously know it's because of all the DP remakes and Sinnoh related games, but Dawn has gotten 8 episodes of cameos in the current series. If Misty appears at all she'll probably just get a 2-parter like in SM. The writers really turned the series against the hopes of Misty fans in every way possible. |

It's basically hard to bring back a character that kissed the protagonist. The writers would either have to pretend the kiss never happened (which would piss off shippers and where they left off at it), or continue with it, which can't happen either because Serena would only stick around a few episodes and leave again, and Ash's character won't be written any differently either. Characters like Misty, Dawn, Iris, etc. can randomly show up for random cameos and leave again, but Serena is a bit more difficult. It's probably why the writers are just leaving her be, because any return for her would probably not be what people want and just make people disappointed. |

So far Misty and Dawn have had the most cameos.
May only appeared back in DP, Iris has only returned for 1 episode so far, and Serena nothing. The writers obviously don't have much interest in the other characters.
It advertises a major game release, the Arceus game, so it probably will get dubbed. They dubbed those Mega Evolution specials during XY that featured Alan before he appeared in the main series. |

AYE..well here is one fact, Serena's va hasn't done ANY voice work since 2016. I don't outright hate the character, but she was just one & done character it seems.
