I think out of all the Fall seasonals that have a shot of getting a dub, Heike Story is easily one of the more challenging picks, but I'm all for it if it brings some new eyes to the show!

Having Mike McFarland as the director is already a great reassurance - love his work on FMA & FMA:B, Mushi-Shi, Blood Blockade Battlefront, Noragami, the (good) Eva rebuild dubs, a handful of the Mamoru Hosoda films, and especially this last season of Attack on Titan - he has an equally very consistent track record and some really impressive dubs among them. And from what I can tell at a glance, casting seems solid as well and all from different backgrounds and locales.

I am disappointed no ADR scriptwriter was listed for this one though, since I think that's going to ultimately make or break this dub. I think it would be a fun challenge to try and adapt some of the more literal and lyrical metaphors, poetry, etc... but that being said I fully don't expect, or even want, the actual excerpts from the Tale of the Heike (sung by Biwa) to be dubbed over. I think it would be way too easy to do poorly given how different it is from dubbing like, a j-pop song or something. I think if they truly wanted to attempt it, it would be better to hire someone trained in that style of music (both for the adapting and singing) for the final home release, rather than work on a simuldub schedule with more limitations.

I also hope the dub can fix some of the more confusing aspects from the sub, particularly the mistranslations of the familial addresses or unnecessary repetitiveness with certain titles, some of which have been fixed as of now and some not. Its a show that just throws you into this family tree and if you can't catch on early, looking up the clan is almost a necessity, so anything the dub can do to mitigate some confusion would be a plus.

Weird that the blog post didn't list him but Tyler Walker revealed himself as the ADR Script writer on Twitter: https://twitter.com/tdubphonic/status/1455641075100626950

Oh cool, I know he's most recently been working on Sonny Boy, but they're probably decently far ahead by now! Thanks

It's nice to see John Gremillion in a main role, I assume Biwa is the main lead character, as he mostly plays side characters.

It's a shame that Funimation never got to dub season 2, as Aniplex got it. They could probably do it, as the only person they would need to return is Travis Willingham.
