I thought showcasing all the dubs in one promo was pretty cool, but closing out on the OG!Cast and having Spike Spencer say "goodbye, all Evangelions" was pretty awesome (no offense to Casey, but nobody else but Spike could have said that and make it mean so much in my opinion).

It's very unfortunate that Mike McFarland couldn't direct the final film's dub but from that we receive a joyful gift in the form of Amazon Prime's Rebuild redub. This is the type of occasion where it will truly pay off to have a Prime account! What little I've heard of the rebuild redub sounds promising. What a unusual yet exciting time to be a dub fan cheers.

Still would have preferred the Netflix cast. I just can’t get the popularity of the old cast.

Hearing Spike, Amanda, and Allison again for this moment was so magical. I love how everything came full circle with the English cast to give them and us some closure.

I also liked what I heard of Doreen as Mari and Damon as Kaworu, even if Trini and Jerry will definitely be missed (Jerry in particular just has this angelic quality to his voice that the other many English Kaworu voices lack).

The Netflix cast is a talented group of VAs, but to me, these will always be the true English voices for these characters. They have such a history with the series.

Assuming Khara likes Amazon's handling of Eva over Netflix's, I wonder if the OG series and End of Eva will end up on there once Netflix's license expires. Still curious to see what GKIDS' release is going to look like, they advertised it as "2021" which we're already eight months into.

Nice to hear the original cast back, Amanda Winn-Lee's Rei has always been my favorite of the EN actresses. I'll definitely give the dub a shot but if they do the whole "singular children" thing again I'll have to go sub. I realize that's "accurate" but the poor grammar is always so distracting when I hear it. At least reading it is easier to deal with.

I'm confused as to how this redub is supposed to work. Is Amazon basically having Spike and Allison (and I'm assuming Tiffany) redo all of their lines all over again? And while Amanda playing Rei is certainly great, I don't see the point of redubbing any of the other characters if they can't get the actors back (unless, of course, they no longer voice act for whatever reason). Clearly Amazon was able to bring Texas-based Allison onboard, so surely they can do the same with some of the original and Funimation dubs (Spike and Amanda don't count since they primarily work in California these days). If they can get to Texas, it would save them a lot of trouble to just outsource the dub to OkraTron and have the Funimation actors who remain do the fourth movie, while allowing the active actors from the original cast do all the movies. (For example, since they can't get Sue Ulu to reprise Ritsuko, just have Colleen do the fourth movie, but since they can get Amanda back, have her dub over Brina's lines and then do the fourth movie). This is particularly true in the case of Mari, where there is no precedent for the character other than Trina, who is obviously still active and could easily hop in the booth for the fourth movie if Amazon is able to make the jump to Texas.

All of this is a long way of saying that I'm probably still going to watch this dub over the Funimation one (assuming the latter never does the fourth movie) and that Amazon should seriously let the Dallas actors dub shows like Psycho-Pass 3 and Bahamut Virgin Soul - it would give Netflix the finger, that's for sure.

Except Netflix recently allowed for Texas based VAs to come as of this year.

Because they were the only English voices of these characters for a good 20 years and represent the way they're "supposed to sound" for a whole bunch of people? I don't think it's anything more complicated than that. Hell, they were career-defining roles for most of the main cast.

I’ll guess my dream of watching the last film in theaters will never come. I still hope Amazon does a limited release on the big Screen. Crying or Very sad This last film deserves a big send off on the Theater Screen not on my small tv.

Can anyone confirm if this will be available to rent on Amazon Video? I'd prefer to do that rather than get a trial to watch the film when its released if possible.

That and the core cast (save for Amanda Winn-Lee) already recorded for the prior three movies.
