Which is Exactly what I said earlier NJ, it's unlikely for this series to air on Toonami anytime soon.
Secondly you're overthinking yourself, I don't think Sentai Filmworks is going to get the home video license and redub the show considering that Viz Media already has the license to the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure anime series, so I expect if this and Kishibe Rohan were to get Home Video releases I expect Viz Media to license this.

That's really my biggest issue this this. |
Yes it means no Blu-rays outside of Japan unless someone decides they want to waste money redubbing it because of Netflix's BS overcharging.
That's what happened with Sentai redubbing Baki & Hero Mask in-house, that's also what happened with the Seven Deadly Sins movie in Germany with them including the theatrical dub (yes, there were two for that film over there) and then there's what's happening with Evangelion with Italy, France & Germany including the old dubs instead (and sub-only for the latter's movies) on their new Blu-ray sets and given what just happened with the Rebuild movies, I expect the English release to not have the Netflix dub either.
Zagnaphein wrote: | You realise they outbid them right? You release Netflix realised how Hot Jojo is and wanted it to their weaponry right?
If Toonami or CR wanted it they could have bid on it but as a person from TOonami tweeted (a person posted his tweets) Netflix has bigger pockets then them. |
One of the heads of David Pro is also a director at Netflix Japan so it goes beyond just having big pockets.

I never said Sentai would...
If Viz gets it I expect newly re-recorded lines from the same cast at Bang Zoom instead of VSI or wherever, same goes for if they get Sailor Moon Eternal and send it to Studiopolis.

Great, Netflix runing another series :S
It's disappointing. One of my greatest joys in anime has been watching Jojo weekly with everyone, but thanks to Netflix's rotten hand Stonce Ocean will be another "done and gone" deal where everyone watches the whole season over Christmas and come January nobody ever mentions it again.
This time I won't even get the chance to watch it with people less legality-obsessed as it will be dumped like trash before it airs in Japan.
[expletive] hell I wish I could destroy Netflix, they have given me nothing but grief.

Capitalism sucks, regardless of this specific case.

You do know that Netflix commissions dubs from Bang Zoom too, right? If they tapped them for Kishibe Rohan, I'm confident they'll tap them for Stone Ocean.

It only means that they would work on it a second time from the same studio.

Honestly the only thing I'm disappointed in is if they really do end up releasing all the episodes at once I'll have to binge it to keep up with everyone else which I can't physically do. Hopefully it'll be coming out in batches, that's a lot more manageable (though the weekly hype will be missed)

So why was Violet Evergarden released on Blu Ray in the U.S., using the Netflix dub?
Not really anime, but I know Viz has released Castlevania on Blu Ray as well and that's a Netflix original.

You don't know that. You won't know anything until a home video release happens and you see what they do.

Perhaps, but much better than all the alternatives. Though the concern here is the long running one between the idea that it would be more efficient to have a monopoly to avoid "wasteful competition" and the idea that competition is useful. Monopolies are indeed a key feature of socialism and much more likely under alternatives to capitalism, but they have been known to arise in capitalism, under certain market characteristics.
A decent number of fans end up complaining about both things at once, but if you want competition, you are going to occasionally have shows switch streamers, which indeed can be annoying. Monopolies avoid that, but they notably have their own host of issues, including but not limited to stronger censorship and decreasing the amount of money that ultimately goes to the folks in Japan making the anime (whether workers or just profits that encourage more shows and studios surviving.) (For people who enjoy having all gay content banned, I suppose socialism is preferable to capitalism.)
If you are mostly upset about shows switching streamers, then the logical response is to strongly favor the CR-Funi tie up.

So does this means that Netflix is going to release an episode weekly? The only anime in which they did that was Violet Evergaden
At least this means that this JoJo series will be dub in multiple languages. In my region Parts 1 through 4 are available in Japanese, English and European Spanish, but the weird thing is that there are credits for an unavailable Portuguese dub and some months ago a Neutral Spanish dub for Golden Wind was leaked by Netflix Japan. I don't know if this means Netflix's going to update the dub options for the other seasons, but if Stone Ocean is coming soon as a "Netflix Original" at least they should give all JoJo series dubs in multiple languages as well. Weirdly enough, in the leaked Golden Wind LA Spanish dub Jotaro is voiced by the same actor who voiced Rohan in the OVA and Koichi has a different voice actor.

I'm wondering if they'll get Tony Oliver back to direct the dub.

Netflix has released weekly shows and I don´t just mean their reality show nonsense. Most of that wasn´t done on US Netflix though. We will know soon enough but at least SO´s pilot is going up this year.

Pretty much watched all of Jojo so far using Crunchyroll and I'm paying for a Premium account, so it is kind of disappointing that Stone Ocean won't be airing on there. Guess I'll be pirating the show whenever I decide to watch it. Sorry Netflix and sorry anime industry, but that's just how it is. I'm not paying for a Netflix account just to watch 1 show. And yes I'm aware you can get a 1 month free trial of Netflix, but that's beyond the point I'm making.

Lots of speculation going on here. I'll just wait to see what happens. Still pissed off though.
