Just based off that trailer I'd like to think this is a sequel to Princess Mononoke.

Nice, really looking forward to this one based on the author's previous works alone (Erin, the Beast Player & Moribito)!

I was thinking this looks a lot like Moribto or Sword of the Stranger from the trailer and then I read the rest of the article
