Reading this makes me more eager to watch the show dubbed when it comes out. It's quite a surprising perspective given it was done in Japan.

Haven't watched the show, but with all the talk about name, did she even know they had real name? Presumably they've been raised by the evil military complex, why would they even bother giving them real name or teaching them that people have real name?

They are older than the system the show is about. Why wouldn't they have names?

That damned 11-episodes trend has made its comeback... And, since 86 is not an otakush*t series, we're less likely to have a 2nd season.
The name thing has already been explained by Shin in the anime. |

Tell that to AoT, even if it took a while. |

That means it'll have around 23 episodes in total or so? |

Srsly? AoT is a widely popular series worldwide, 86 is nowhere near that famous and it will never be.
Great news, thanks for the update. Too bad that a 2nd season chance is quite low regardless of it. |

The Light Novel is pretty popular and the anime seems to be getting pretty popular as well. I guess sales and streaming will probably be a more determining factor but I wouldn't rule out more seasons just because the first cour is 11 episodes... |

Nor was a little known manga called Demon Slayer. For that matter, AoT didn't become a global hit until after it's anime started either. |

I know it's already an old anime at this point but wish you did this for From the new World.

Quite the glowing... recommendation? I love these dialogs, but I've no idea what to call 'em.
I read the first couple LNs and didn't care for them too much, but most of the issues I had would likely be remedied in an animated adaptation. Definitely looking forward to giving this a try once it's all finished. One thing that worried me, though, is the scope. The first three LNs (IIRC) tell a pretty focused story, that ends up expanding/spiraling out later, and things of that nature are typically really annoying to see in anime adaptations due to a tendency toward incompletion. Yes, I am still sore about FMP, thanks for asking. |

You are correct; the first three novels form the first story arc. The anime adaptation is currently pacing like it intends to spend all 22 episodes adapting just those three novels, and that is the ideal place to stop. There's much more to the story at that point, but I think audiences will find that concluding point to be quite satisfying. |

AoT and Demon Slayer are action shounen manga, published in popular shounen magazines: when they gained a little popularity among Japanese readers, an animated version was a mandatory step. 86 isn't a battle shounen, and not even an otaku bait; for series like this one, is difficult to get more than one season nowadays, because battle shounen and otaku series come first. For light novels, it's even worse: we're lucky to have a non-fanservice novel animated once in a while, but a second season chance for these kind of series is very rare. They're victims of the "otaku privilege" and the "isekai privilege". I wish it wasn't, but that's the way it is these days (even if it's a little better than few years ago). |
