Hopefully, yeah. Several sequels to shows licensed during the partnership worked out that way, which I think is a fair way to handle it from a customer perspective.

With Crunchyroll being bought by Funimation this becomes a moot point.

Not really, though. The purchase isn't completed, and it's standard for companies to proceed with current business plans until an acquisition is finalized. A recent example would be Microsoft's purchase of Zenimax. Neither would speak plainly about whether exclusivity would happen or if a bunch of Bethesda games would hit Game Pass until after the purchase was done. Even then, Bethesda still has to honor contracts for things like Playstation exclusivity for Death Loop.
Waiting who knows how long for a dub because Funimation decided they would probably be able to do it at some as of yet undetermined point in the future would also suck for customers that want a dub.
