Not sure I see the sense in screening it in theaters right now.

I'm not super confident my city's theatres will be allowed to reopen by March 30th, but I'll keep my fingers crossed. If they are, I'm so there.

It's possible theaters in the LA area will be allowed to open (at 10% capacity or so) by the end of March. That won't make going to those theaters a good idea.
I wonder if anime that are getting US theatrical releases now when many parts of the country can't or shouldn't see them will get theatrical re-releases later?

Looks like this is the start of other films opening in NA, which is good news in general but local circumstances may still be a deterrent.

It is in Texas more or less. They're opening the state up and dropping masks mandates as of yesterday I believe.

AT LONG LAST!!! I dearly, dearly hope that one of my local theaters will play it, provided it's reasonably safe out and the theaters are open then.

My husband and I still need to finish watching the series, but I know I'll want to see this movie. However, neither of us are going to feel comfortable going to a theater and with this being sub-only (husband doesn't watch subs), we'll have to wait for a hopefully eventual Blu-Ray release with a dub.

Of the two major theater chains in my area, Regal Cinemas are still closed, while AMCs have generally been open with limited capacities for months now. Hence I expect at least one theater in the area will pick this up.
And this is actually probably a good time to have the movie circulating, since it might get picked up in more places with the limited offerings circulating right now. (The Demon Slayer movie probably wouldn't have come close to breaking Spirited Away's record without this strongly in its favor.)

Nice! Need this and also Made in Abyss to come out in theaters!
Hopefully it'll also be at the theater near me that normally gets these instead of all the way downtown.
My Mum also got into this series so I'll take her along!
I know they just released the blu-ray box set, but I'm waiting until the OVA and the film are also out to get the whole thing together.

My local theater closed for a couple months March to June or so, but they've been open this whole time after, just with some capacity restrictions. Also Netflix for sure has exclusive streaming rights, and since Netflix is the one commissioning the dub, it makes sense them not letting Funimation show it in theaters before it even streams on their own platform.
On top of all that, Netflix and Funimation (for digital sales) probably won't get the go-ahead to stream the movie until it releases on bluray in Japan (haven't seen a release date on that yet).
