I knew Irino as the titular running back from Eyeshield 21, and I think he did quite a bang-up job as Sena. Can't wait to hear him as Mirai.

This is like with Ex-Arm where I feel bad for the talented people stuck in a trainwreck...I mean, I can't remember the last time Miyu Irino was the lead in a series.

Sounds like the exact same plot as Mirai Nikki, with one more opponent.

It's strange to see Signal MD to be the studio working on this. Also still feels strange to see this being animated, since the manga's closing chapters get really, really weird.

In fairness, Ex-Arm is mostly a trainwreck because of the awful 3DCG animation.
Reading its source manga, I'd say the story is a pretty fun scifi romp (in a turn-your-brain-off-way). If done in the usual 2D style or even more professionally done CG, it wouldn't be as bad.
Platinum's issue is the story (esp. the nihilist ending), and animation can only go so far to make up for it. Unless they agree to change the ending or plot beats in some way though...

I liked Death Note and Bakuman. Glad I’m not the only one to think Platinum End is pretty terrible.
