February? Not surprising they'd pack it in. Dr. Fauci says we could maybe expect to see vaccines available to the average Joe mid-spring, like April. If I were a betting man, I'd see conventions returning in earnest in June.

Not surprised by this move. I do want to eventually go to AMKE, but 2021 was definitely not going to be the year. Maybe 2022, if conditions are better, but who knows.

I kind of feel bad for whoever’s the first back, expecting it’ll be in some state that relaxes their large crowd prohibitions too soon, so without force majeure to fall back on, the con is forced to either go on as originally scheduled years ago or default on all their contracts and go broke.

I would imagine some, not all, conventions returning in 2022, but 2021 is going to be a big toss in the air. Places like New Zealand and Taiwan still had their conventions go ahead even this year, but very few places are like that.

Minus the fact some conventions are gone permanently, convention planning is rather long-term. A second cancellation would NOT be good, so if some conventions decide to run this year, they are betting on things getting A LOT better. It will improve, but it won't be a huge swing to the "normal". It is probably a lot safer to sit 2021 out and aim for a much better chance to plan an attractive convention in 2022.
