Alright, I've always been curious to read the original Slayers novels!

I am a beyond huge Slayers fan, this is quite possibly one of the best news I’ve heard! I can actually read a official English translation version of volumes 9-15! I’m so excited!

This is surprising, but I am very happy about it. I hope this means they'll do the new one too.

A notable Eng. dub VA fan of "Slayers" is the guy that is typecast as the leading guy in a lot of harem anime: Josh Grelle.

Quote: | J-Novel Club added that it may not be able to include the classic color illustrations. |
What does that mean? By "classic" it presumably refers to the illustrations from the 1990s novels. But the previous sentence already said it is based on the 2008 edition that had "new color" illustrations. The sample of the first chapter on their website has illustrations but they are in black and white. So wtf is going on?
EDIT:Just read a sample of the Japanese books. I'm guessing the quote "classic color illustrations" refers to the "new color illustrations" of the 2008 edition. These seem to be special illustrations at the beginning of the books before the actual content of the novel. The illustrations seen throughout the actual first chapter are the same black and white ones in J-Novel Club's sample.

You mean volumes 9-17? The last two volumes were released a few years back.

J-Novel never have the colour insert images from the front of the book in their pre-publication release on the website, these are only included in the finished ebook.

I assumed they meant the original covers for the novels, which were actually on the Tokyopop version of the books. The cover of the ebook they showed is the updated cover illustration from 2008. It's actually really cool if you haven't seen them: the covers from novels 1-15 make up a giant mural.
I do have both the 1990-2000 originals and the 2008-09 re-release of the Japanese novels, but they're packed away at the moment, so I can't pull them out to compare the interior illustrations.

My bad, didn’t realize 16 and 17 were released.
