Well if it's something they've never done before i guess that rules out any hopes i may have had of a return of IGPX.

if it's half as "good" as FLCL 2 and 3 then it's not worth the effort/resources

Given DeMarco’s tastes, it’s not going to be anything too exciting.

I’m not really sure why it would be really like those shows.

I mean, the discourse for Progressive, I can understand, but why anyone would dislike Alternative outside of the ending, the random rap number from episode 3, and the fact that it's also trying to recapture that FLCL magic is beyond me. These two should be evaluated separately, not lumped together.
As for the announcement itself, even if it ends up crashing and burning harder than Progressive, I expect myself to enjoy it. Not to the point of being willing to die on its hill like I am with IGPX (a sequel series for which I'd much prefer in P.A. Works' hands, by the way), but enough for me to not regret it and for a time wonder why others are regretting it.

I still haven't seen either sequels because I still think the original FLCL was it's own story. But anyway, I would love to see Adult Swim collaborate with other studios (a co-production with P.A. Works or Bones would be cool to see).

Important thing about IGPX is that it was the first ever simuldub. Fall 2014 is when the practice of having at least 2-3 simuldubs a season would become a trend.
