I was half paying attention to the stream until the name drop and then I realized what I'd missed.
This game looks freaking amazing. Once again Resident Evil has been hitting it out of the park recently.
Not on board with the first person view again but a small price to pay. Poor Eathan, Chris is taking on more and more darker roles and I love it. I'm sure there's a rational explanation for things, Mia probably got reinfected or was never fully cured or had some nasty side-effects Chris couldn't take a chance with.
I'm so glad they're releasing this for PC at the same time, the PS5 stream was severely lacklustre, personally.

Is that Luis from RE4 in the thumbnail?
Speaking of RE4 can't wait to see what it looks like in RE Engine in a couple years.

Yeah, I would have preferred third-person but first-person in RE7 turned out better than I thought. I'm hoping the non-boss enemies will be less straight forward to deal with, at least.
As for the bits of plot the series loves to toy with the idea that a character has gone bad, but so far it has always turned out to have an explanation, like lack of context or someone being manipulated. I could easily see Mia still having problems or not being truly cured. She spent three years under Evelyn's control. Plus, RE5 revealed that Jill wasn't entirely cured in RE3. The vaccine suppressed the virus to where she wouldn't become a zombie. Wesker figured out what happened after a fall that should have killed her didn't.. One of the family members in RE7 had also gotten free of Evelyn's control, but retained the phsyical enhancements, so I've never been convinced that Mia was completely cured.

I know my husband is definitely looking forward to this! Especially given the continuation after VII, which was one of his favorites to play.
The only disappointment is that it's only for the next-gens - given how just the trailers look, it makes sense to only be on the next-gens, though - and we had no plans on investing in the new XBox right away. So this might be a case where he'll pre-order the game (I know he's going to hope to snag a collector's edition, if one pops up) so he owns it for his collection, but then wait on playing until we can buy the system.

Didn't care for 7 much so I'm sad to see 8 is more of the same FPS-style stuff.
Something also tells me a lot of the assets for this is going to be reused for the inevitable RE4 remake. Hopefully it turns out a lot better than the RE3 remake.
