Umm... I guess you're new to the realm of anime/manga, in which case, welcome. When it's animated, it's known as anime. The comic book form is known as manga. Inuyasha and Rurouni Kenshin can be found in anime or manga form. That's about the simplest explanation I can give.

Inu-Yasha & Rurouni Kenshin are actually both anime and manga. You see, anime are what you see on TV or in theatres, while manga are black & white comic books. Inu-Yasha & Kenshin were originally manga (written/drawn by Rumiko Takahashi & Nobuhiro Watsuki respectively), which were later developed into TV anime series later on. Of course, both series were eventually given varying numbers of movie & OVA releases, which are also anime.
