Voice Actor Johnny Yong Bosch Confirms Role as Broly from Dragon Ball Franchise

There's no residuals. Funimation isn't union, especially for in-house dubs. They paid the actors once to record it and that's it. He hasn't earned a cent for playing Elric since Sacred Star of Milos. (Unless there was a dubbed OVA or something in the interim). So there's no point rerecording the dub, it doesn't matter how much it's shown or what services it's on, he's not getting anything out of it.

I don't think residuals are a thing in general for anime dubs, possibly due to how dub track rights actually work. Watching a dub or buying it on blu-ray or whatever means that Funimation might hire the specific actors again, but it doesn't actually affect how much the actors earn.

I see some people asking whether or not Fullmetal Achemist: Brotherhood would be re dubbed, because of Vic Mignogna. I don't think Funimation or Aniplex of America would be willing to hire another voice actor to essentially be the "new Edward Elric". From what I've read anime dubbing is very expensive and time consuming for both the voice actor and the studio. You can still hear Scott Freeman as Issei in the earlier seasons of High School DxD but in later seasons was replaced by Josh Grelle due to Scott Freeman being charged with possession of child porn in 2015.

I think the big factor preventing FMAB from being redubbed is that there's no real money to be gained from doing so. FMAB already has made as much money as it's going to from anime fandom as most everyone in the fandom has seen it by now and most everyone who wants to own a copy already has one by now. If there was a profit to be gained from doing a new dub, they probably would if only to milk the series more, but as of now it would be more costly to redub it than to not. To be honest, I think the Japanese version is vastly under-rated and Romi Park deserves more praise.

They're not gonna redub anyone, even if they were allowed to. It would just be a waste of money. No one's gonna want to buy a re-dub with Ed recast. If we were to ever get a new movie, ova or even series, they will of course recast him, cause at that point it's that or nothing, but a new dub with a recast Ed won't do well when the old dub already exists.

If we're talking about VA's that can fill the roles Vic once had, I think Christopher Llewyn Ramirez would be a perfect substitute. When I first heard the dub for "Radiant" I legitimately thought Vic was Seth, so imagine to my surprise when I saw newcomer Christopher Llewyn Ramirez in the credits. I bet Christopher could EASILY provide the voice of Edward Elric as well as Vic's other roles. Can't imagine him screaming his lungs out as Broly though.

I hadn't really given any thought to who would play Broly going forward, but I can't complain about picking Bosch.

I'm curious if Johnny will also be OG!Broly moving forward if he ever appears in new games.
