I'm really enjoying this interesting little series so far. I go to a gym about 5 times a week and do some exercise at home when the weather forces me to. All the advise about how to properly do exercises is an excellent idea.

I came here for the muscle girls, I stayed for the surprisingly charming and motivating exercise tutorials. I feel like I'm in better shape already, but Hibiki is definitely improving faster than I am. I'm not quite at "workout days on the beach" yet, but at least I don't get out of breath when I walk uphill! |

Are there a lot of blond girls in Japan these days? Or is it simply the anime that make it look that way? Or, as the old story goes, do the artists simply have excessive amounts of yellow paint?

The episodes are pretty good and the cast is fun, but to me the educational content are just uninteresting as someone with 0 interest in training (although I was fine with the educational corner in laid back camp despite having no interest in camping). I can't help but feel like the best way to experience this show would be to wait for it to be fully release and someone to do a re cut where they just seamlessly remove all the educational part. |

More importantly, could it be that this episode featured the first instance of Russian profanity in anime? Would have been awkward had this show been licensed by Crunchyroll and legally streamed in Russia.. |

There are quite a few actually, though not naturally so when you don’t count foreigners! I’ve been spending the past two weeks in Japan and have lots of Japanese girls with their hair dyed blond. |

Ironically depsite the claim that this weeks episode was the least educational by comparision it actually contained some of the most important things people do wrong following workouts.
I think the delivery could have been better, and sure some of it happened before but it wasn't less educational that prior episodes. |

Back when I did martial arts we always jogged right after our workout - according to the teacher it was to get rid of the lactic acids built up. Wonder if active resting is effective moments after you hurt your muscles
It's interesting that Japan's cut of meats are fattier than imported goods. Wonder why - maybe it's because they don't have such a meat-rich diet like some of the west? My country in particular is a cow meat exporter and we eat so much of it, bur unfortunately our cuts' names don't really translate I think, so the information was more 'interesting' than 'useful'. Still, for all that, this was the worst episode yet. Teacher and Gina just don't add anything to the show in my opinion except 'comedy' that doesn't make me laugh and fanservice. |

Unforgivable my ass. Anyone who knows that Japanese names are last name first, first name last would get the pun even with the names rearranged to fit American convention. And this is coming from someone who didn't even get the pun until you pointed it out! |

The joke with Kure-Sensei isn't so much her age as it is that she's a character brought in from Kengan Ashura; she's the mother of Karla Kure and it's insinuated in a copyright-friendly way that her husband is Golgo 13 himself. Thus Kure-Sensei is in fact an assassin whose favorite murder weapon is the naginata(!), and that's why she has both the black eyes common to the Kure clan and the rather unusual response to being asked if she plays any sports.
Dumbbells truly gains so, so many wonderful extra layers of weirdness if you're familiar with Kengan Ashura too... |

Honestly, I mostly just watch the show for the OP and ED.

Surprising final episode score. For me, this series really limped across the finish line. Yet another talent show? It felt like we had 4 of these in a row between the Idol show and New Year's show ( was there a costume contest in the theme park? I kinda zoned out around this point).
Since the date episode in the theme park I felt like barely anything took place in a gym. It all just got so stale for me. Oh well. I did enjoy the series for the most part but the back half will not be memorable. |

This show was just so darned supportive all the time, even when it was broadly mocking itself (in fact, its self-awareness was one of its most encouraging attributes). I wish the review had mentioned that delightful final five-second sequence of Hibiki weighing herself, though, because I thought it encapsulated the series' entire ultra-positive philosophy: Hibiki's intensely proud and gratified to have achieved her goal for herself, but achieving that goal is even more importantly a wonderful chance to challenge herself further and see what more she can accomplish. As she bounces gleefully off into the sunset, we get a picture of a girl who's gone from purely reactive in her self-image ("oh no, I'm fat! Gotta do something!") to capable of planning her own future and understanding what she needs to do to make those plans come true. And that, for this show, is the magic of exercise—not to have a better body, but to have a better attitude toward yourself, your friends, and what you can accomplish together.

So, uh, the girls don’t turn muscular like the dude in the end.
That’s...rather disappointing. *sigh* Well, back to deviantART I guess. |
