Just finished Senryū Girl, a half length episode series that finished with its 12th episode. Sure it was a soft and sweet show, where you have characters that included a girl that had trouble expressing herself without putting it into a poem, and a guy who gets misunderstood as a thug. But it did kind of feel like it was missing some teeth. Most of the characters felt like a character trait idea, and how it wanted to match make this odd couple. I give a rating of So-so (5/10), not really bad or annoying, but not enough to really catch my attention.

Designated Survivor S3.
I really do like this show, it's West Wing lite mixed with some kind of Homeland Lite. |

I just finished watching the 100 1 minute episodes of Aggretsuko and they were pretty neat. Is the season on Netflix pretty much the same material, or is it very different? I'm pretty interested. Other than that, I'm watching ImoCho. I like it. I'm sorry. |

There have been two seasons on Netflix, and they are different to the 100 1 minute shorts, being more of a continuous story, and characters can have differences, so it is a bit like alternate timeline or world. |

I just started my Netflix watch of Evangelion. This dub is a bit different. Nay-erv? Yikes.
Update on Ep 17, I am an anime purist and usually can't tollerate dubs but this new eng dub is pretty good. Asuka has me cracking up. Shinji has a better voice than the ADV dub. There are a few differences but from what I just shotgunned it's digestible. I'm curious to how far any Netflix hardcore got with it. |

Hi everyone, I just started watching Demon Slayer because it was recommended to me by a friend. I immediately got hooked by the storyline and character development. Also, the action is pretty fun to watch too =)
I'm episode 6 and I know others are much farther along, but I'm taking my time to really enjoy it. |

I've been watching The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I watched the first season years and years ago, but never got around to watching the 2nd season. So now I've been watching the whole show (season 1 + 2) in chronological order. I just finished the Endless Eight. I never thought I'd do it, but I did. I survived. I didn't skip a single episode. I didn't even skip an opening or an ending. Is that like an anime iron man feat?
Anyway I like the show. Endless Eight was an ordeal and there have been some filler-like episodes that weren't as interesting, but I like the characters. Haruhi's eccentricity is kind of fun to watch, and Kyon's comments and internal monologue are amusing. And the animation is very good. |

Congratulations on getting through Endless Eight. I certainly recall at the time the thought that were not really going to do it, but then they really did it. And small successes like I think an episode that used K-ON animation. You certainly should make you way to watching the movie after you are finished with the TV series, which I think even has some payout for putting yourself through Endless Eight.

Yeah, I definitely intend to. I've actually had quite a bit of interest in the movie due to its high ratings and praise I've heard over the years, but I've always felt like I'd need to watch the 2nd season first. |

Having finished both the 1st and 2nd season of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, I just watched The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. It was great, definitely liked it more than the TV series. When I first saw the running time, I got a bit worried: 2 hours and 40 minutes. That's a long ass movie. But somehow that time just flew by. Watching Kyon find little glimmers of hope after all that despair made me feel relieved. Kyon's development in the movie felt like it was really the natural progression of his character and the execution was very satisfying. Also the other world Nagato was impossibly cute (OMG). I'd like to believe that there's some dere in the real Nagato as well. Actually, would (real) Nagato be a kuudere or a dandere?
Due to other world Nagato's moe power, I now feel like I want to check out The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan. The ratings on it everywhere just seem to imply that it's somewhat lame. Having seen the main series stuff so recently I feel like I'd be in a good position to notice any references to the main series and I wanna see more of other world Nagato. Hmm... what to do. |

Glad you enjoyed the movie. I have not seen it in a while, but still hold in high regard. It was good work of KyoAni, especially relevant with the recent tragedy. Also total fan of all Nagatos.
Yuki-chan I think is okay, and could be worth a watch if you want to see the somewhat familiar characters in a new story, somewhat like the one the movie went into. Just don't expect something of the same level as the other series, and is a different studio. But I don't think is actually bad. |

I started watching The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan. It's not blowing me away or anything, but it has been worth my time so far. It's a fairly generic romcom, but I'm fine with that. I like generic, sweet, pure and innocent teenage anime romance. Combine that with characters I already know and like, and it's a worthwhile recipe.

Just finished the short length anime, Are You Lost, the story of four high school girls left deserted on an island and having to survive. Its design looks cute and generally typical of anime that can show a fair amount of fanservice, while also showing that having to survive can be taxing and not always pretty. Although never really showing anything on the level of bits, it has its fair share of objectional content, where them being alone means there shouldn't be anything wrong with in their underwear, to things like this last episode having it explained that spoiler[two of the girls have to take bat poop infest water in their mouths before putting their mouths to the anus of the other girl to spit it up there so they don't dehydrate]. Describing that sounds absolutely horrendous, even if it is not really shown as some sort of messed up porn. Lets just say this is the anime version of those Bear Grylls memes of needing to drink piss in an emergency.
Can't say it ever got to the point actually making me felt sick, showing about as much as any other light ecchi anime, but it still had its fair share of finding the humour or creating a bit of fetishization of survival scenarios. But as bad as that sounds, I think that it also imparts an appreciation to the conveniences we have in our everyday lives. Sure some cute girls would be nice, but at least you are not having to spoiler[suck water through a dirty sock], or kill to be able to eat. I honestly enjoyed it, as much as any problems, and how I should feel kind of bad for liking things I really shouldn't, it was funny, cute, and some interesting survival tips. I give it a rating of Decent (6/10), its shorter length may even make it easier to watch, if you are not so grossed out. |

Just finished of the tv series Given, ending at its 11th episode. And I would like to say that I really wish to be kind about this show. It is a yaoi anime, that I think for the most part didn't get to weird with its gay characters like you can see in other BL anime, but honestly I was kind of mostly bored. Maybe I am a poor fit, because I think boy idol anime, or anime about boy bands or whatever, just kind of are not my thing, totally make me bored. Given tried to make things exciting, having some plot about one of the boys having a likely ex-boyfriend who died, with the boy being blamed for it in some way, added with drama of I think a jealous girl and mild homophobia stuff in there. Not the show itself, but some characters which is totally fair in a show with homosexuality, but regardless it didn't make me really interested in watching. I couldn't care in the least the drama it mostly set up, and character interactions not what I would call cute enough to overcome that I don't usually seek BL stuff out.
But, I actually did really like the last episode, it actually drew my attention and kept me from browsing on my tablet. It seemed mostly divorced of the drama I did not care for, replaced with a confession, and making it simply a question of whether band mates should date, answered with a "why the damn not". Even had a cute segment in the head of one of them, which must have happened before in the series, but I have no memory of it, probably. Either something changed with me to decide to stay invested through an entire episode, or episode 11 did something better. Still, the series in general was not really my thing, and I would be more interested to hear someone else's opinion into these type of shows, being able to create a contrast of opinions. I can be really into the music of Carol & Tuesday, but my eyes gloss over when the same happened here, kind of like I had with Anonymous Noise, although that was one was more ridiculous. Anyway, I will give a rating of So-so (5/10), at the risk of feeling a few times that I was wasting my time sitting down to watch with little grabbing my attention, I can see that others would be enjoying it more. |

Just finished Re:Stage! Dream Days off with its 12th episode, and I have sort of mixed feelings about it overall. It is an idol anime that goes for a more moe design, and has all the hallmarks of a school club for idols, and trying to win the big idol competition with variable different student. Frankly, I thought the idol thing by itself was the weakest part of the show, everything that felt like it came from Love Live was something that made me check out, and it was not like it was otherwise getting by on being cute. But, sometimes it could get kind of weird, especially in regard to one character, Kae, who was supposed to be a tech savant. And can totally clash with the setting.
Kae is not only like some sort of hacker, but she has like sci-fi tech that create holograms, and has a scouter that measures idol ability. Along with her kind of introverted not showing emotion personality she clashes with the rest of the show, it is actually kind of good. The show actually had me with tears in my eyes over one kind of joke, where everyone is trying to write a song in pairs, which is the general fair until Kae and Kasumi turn their session into being DJs with a disco flair. It is so odd, that I think that the show in general would have been better if they focused more on not just copying what every other idol show does, and just be weird. I would even say they had some of the pieces like one girl always dressed in traditional Japanese attire, and the other half of the Princess and Angel duo being into airsoft/ survival games. I think it may have done some okay blending of cg and 2d art, but did not stop it from mostly being boring. I do feel a little conflicted with giving a rating, because large swaths had almost nothing keeping my attention, and then it would do something silly that would get it back. Maybe I should decide by what the last episode did, which despite it wanting to focus on the competition, it kind of lacked actually focusing on any of the competition. We were just told that the most likely winners were so good, after it was just skipped. A little disappointing if it was what it wanted to be. So I rate So-so (5/10), but some parts actually interested me and gave me a smile. |
