I hope they can get someone that sounds similar, most seamless voice handover was probably Kermit the frog.
But god I really hated when the voice of Mouri Kogoro from Detective Conan was handed over after 13 years, the new VA sounded absolutely nothing alike and the personality the voice portrayed was wholly different. |

Well it doesn't seem like she's got any noticeable health issues that would indicate she won't be around for much longer. In any case, best thing to do would probably look for a someone to be her protege and come up with a succession plan so that when the time comes the transition can be as smooth and seamless as possible. Even if she makes it to the end of the series, the franchise certainly continue to be milked, in which case they would need Mayumi Tanaka or a replacement.

This might be just for fun or might be a foreshadowing of the future. This is similar to the Shin-chan VA handover that happened last year where the original VA cannot perform the role anymore.
