{MODERATION NOTICE: I couldn't stand to look at the grammatical errors in the title anymore, so I corrected it. Carry on. -- abunai}

My favorite Mangaka were:

Yuu Watase: Her style were really great and gorgeous, especially the clothing designs in Fushigi Yugi. I find her character to be very good looking and I wanted to draw just like her.

Bisco Hatori: I don't really like her kind of style, but I find her art very entertaining and very stylish when it comes to clothing. The way she draw the eyes catch my attention.

Clamp: One of the best drawings they've done were Chobits, Shirahime-Syo and Card Captor Sakura. I really like it. Although their style varies with each title, these were the only ones that stands-out for me.

I'm really picky when it comes to art because even though the story was good but if I find the art mediocre or bad I find it very boring.

Hey, good question! Mangakas don't get much attention around here. Anyway, here's my list of my favorites:
Masamune Shirow: Ghost in the Shell and Appleseed. Need I say more????
Kazourou Inoue: He did the Midori no Hibi series. Besides being a great mangaka with a great sense of humor, he is a seriously good character designer.
Yabuki Kentaro: The creator of Black Cat, he's a great storyteller.
D.Nishiwaki (I forget his first name): The creator of the Fate/Stay Night manga, and a man after my heart.
That's all for now.

Although I'm not a big Clamp fan I do love XXXolic. And I totally agree about the mediocre art. It can ruin a perfectly good story!

I second those two!

I also like Yun Kouga for Loveless. The art is beautiful and the story is among the most complex out there. Plus, the writer in me loves a story where words hold power. Then there is the team Kaoru Ohashi and Kei Kusunoki who wrote Ogre, Sengoku Nights, and Diabolo and then split up to write Innocent W and Nightmares for Sale. Loved them all! Excellent horror stories. Lastly, I have to added Kaori Yuki for Angel Sanctuary. Amazingly complex story with beautiful art.

My favorite manga-ka is Masamune Shirow, because he is both a spectacular artist and a very creative storyteller. His work is just as awesome now as it was 20 years ago, and people still get excited when it's announced that he'll be involved in a new project. That's pretty impressive.

I also have a soft spot for Hiroyuki Takei, not only because he wrote my favorite manga of all time, but because he has such a relaxed and goofy sense of humor. His author comments can be beyond bizzare sometimes, but he has a really fun art style with lots of personality.

And of course, I have to mention CLAMP. Beautiful art and absolutely epic storylines; what's not to love?

Takehiko Inoue - I shouldn't even need to explain anything here. The guy is just beyond reproach in every possible category and his art is orgasm inducing. He also seems like a cool guy that gets involved in the things he likes (like that basketball scholarship thing and the mural he painted in New York).

Hiroki Endo - Eden is the only manga that I can compare to Vagabond. His art isn't as good as Inoue's but story is his strong suit and it shows in his work. Plus, his brain is screwed up in all the same ways mine is so that's a plus for me liking him I suppose.

Yuki Kaori: I love how detailed her art is. It's so beautiful and different! I also love that, in Angel Sanctuary, she made it impossible for me to hate any of the characters.
Watase Yuu: Her art in Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden is also really beautiful. I agree with chichiriNoDa about her clothing designs, though I think I liked the clothes she gave the characters in Ceres best.
Samura Hiroaki: I've only read three volumes of his manga, but his art really stands out for me. I love how he uses pencil as well as pen.
Obana Miho: I love her manga (I've only read Kodocha) not so much for her art (though I do like her art), but for the storytelling; it got me really attached to Sana and all the other characters and everything about the series.

Probably Hitoshi Iwaaki. I've mentioned his work a lot in this forum and I've only read Parasyte and Historie, but I love his work.

I like the philosophical ideas he explores and the art in his latest work is fantastic.

Watase Yuu and not just for her art. I personally care much more for a well-told story than for how pretty it is, though the best have both and Watase is definitely one of the best. While not all her series have been the greatest *cough*Absolute Boyfriend*cough,* the majority of them are definitely among my favourites. I just love how her works generally have a fluffy shoujo-y exterior with a much deeper, more serious core. Ceres maybe doesn't follow this trend as much, but the others that I've read have.

I also do agree with her clothes, especially her school uniforms: they are unique and awesome.

Except for Toya's belly shirt. That was wrong on so many levels Razz

Ai Yazawa because her stories just seem so real and she's not afraid to have things go badly (and very badly) for her characters and not necessarily fix said thing by the end of the series (see spoiler[Yukari and George's relationship in ParaKiss]). Even when her stories take a more soap opera-ish tone, they are still always believable to me.

We really need to get more of her manga translated. Two titles is not enough. At least get Last Quarter over here, I've heard such good things about it but I didn't care much for the one scanlation I found.

I also do love her art.

CLAMP, who used to be #2 until Yazawa kicked them out of the spot. Again, awesome art, if a bit odd at times (like the latest proportions, lol characters who are 6 feet tall and weigh less than 50 pounds or at least that's what it looks like!). But again, it's the stories that work best.

I think one of CLAMP's biggest strengths is dealing with large casts. It can be really hard to have a big cast and give everyone development (see Fushigi Yuugi and poor Mitsukake, whose cat has more development than he does Anime hyper) but CLAMP usually manages it. I especially found that they handled minor characters very well in RG Veda, where spoiler[the deaths of some of the minor characters were more traumatic to read than those of the main characters at the end].

I also love how versatile they are, though the fact that it's a group of women probably helps that quite a bit.

Honorable mention goes to Fuyumi Soryo, who does great pyschological stuff, and Svetlana Chmakova and Bisco Hatori, who make me laugh so much with their character stories.

My favorite manga-ka at the moment is Kiyohiko Azuma, author of Yotsuba&! and Azumanga Daioh.

He creates unique but believable characters, most of whom are a bit odd but still realistic. His stories and his sense of humor keep me laughing and are just as enjoyable when re-reading his manga, which is important to me if I'm going to invest in a series.

I love Watase Yuu's work, especially the Fushigi series, because not only the designs were great, the story has a well develop plot. Every characters has their own past (too bad the Gaiden novels weren't lisence) and they have their own personalities.

As for her other novel I haven't read any of them but I heard "AB" was bad.

I alos agree with Toya's belly shirt, that is a disaster! It looks awkward and he look gay....

You definitely should check out the other series available in English, they are really excellent. Just not Absolute Boyfriend all that much (it has moments when it doesn't suck, but it really isn't up to Watase's standards).

Yuu Watase. Not everything she touches is gold (Absolute Boyfriend is pretty bad) but she created one of my favorites, Ceres: Celestial Legend. Fushigi Yuugi was pretty good as well, and I really liked Alice 19th and FY: Genbu Kaiden as well. I enjoy her art and her stories tend to be well crafted.

There are others I would like to say but either I don't have enough experience with them, their series are ongoing and thus I can't properly judge them yet, or they have great series that drop off sometime after the halfway point and the end portion is mediocre and dissatisfying.

Nobuhiro Watsuki because his art and dialogue are great. He knows how to make his art evoke emotions to the readers very well.

Katsuhiro Otomo
There isn't a thing this guy can't draw. His artwork is super-realistic, but not to the extent that his humans remain expressionless. Perhaps, it's the characters themselves that make Otomo's stories. Not forgetting his cinematic pacing, which is so darn smooth and breathtaking.
Taiyo Matsumoto
I haven't known him as long as Otomo, but Taiyo has completely influenced my own art. His panels, luscious inking, shakey and natural line, and surreal backgrounds make for unforgettable, original experiences. I also admire the fact he blends the sensibilities of American, European and Japanese comics so perfectly together.

Kenji Yamamoto - His story of Chaosic Rune is one of my favorite types and draws away from the part that card games aren't violent. His characters and their expressing of emotions can look a bit on the eerie side, but fun to look at. He also has a cover version of Black Jack.

Kouta Hirano - His writing style and art have become more detailed with the latter days of Hellsing. It still was great reading what many consider to be sloppy action and not so greatly detailed characters, but I think that's what made Hellsing big in the beginning. I can't wait to see how the series will turn out.

Natsuki Takaya - Her details and artwork of characters has also become smoother over the course of her series coming out. Her portrayal of characters is also able to draw you in to the series, which is what happened with myself.
