The original series ended perfectly fine that Madoka doesn't really need a continuation but I just hope this new show will be better than Rebellion.

As the "side story" part of the title implies, it's not exactly a continuation, but a spinoff of some sort. Haven't played the game, though, so I can't say whether it'll be any good. Incidentally, there sure are a lot of anime based on mobile games these days... even for a franchise as popular as Madoka, they dragged their feet on a sequel until they scored a hit mobile game. Japanese people must be particularly big spenders on gamb--uh, I mean, "in-app purchases."
Also, just to make a pedantic correction to the article: it's "Magica Quartet," not "Magical Quartet" (right under the main image).

Depends on which part of Rebellion you didn't like; the same people who disliked the first hour of Rebellion will probably hate Magia Record's storyline.

Somehow I have a hunch that this is being made so that whatever Rebellion's direct sequel is will make more sense.
