Finally When I saw Perfect Blue in theaters I kept hoping GKids would do a blu-ray release.

About damn time. I imported the UK BD release a year or two ago, but it's nice to finally have something else by Kon back in print. Now go after the rest!

I was hoping they would get the rights to release it on BD. I hope they can pick up Kon's other flims also that would be awesome.

Perfect Blue is one of my all time favorite anime movies. I love how complex the story is and Kon's unique art style and the movie always keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end. I hope we can get more of Kon's films like Millenium Actress and Tokyo Godfathers rescued licensed. I also hope someone will finally license the anime anthology film, Memories, as Kon directed the first short film in the anthology, Magnetic Rose, which I don't believe has ever been released in the US before.

Takato: Memories has been released on home video, but Mill Creek might have it, now. Check with @WTK. And yeah, that should still get a dub, too.

Siren Visual in Australia put out a BD release of Memories. It's Region B, so it takes some doing to play, but it's something at least.

I had a sneaking suspicion that a disc release was coming after their theatrical release, so I sold my Manga Entertainment DVD for some good money a little while ago.
This is my #2 favourite Kon movie. I can't wait to pick it up.

Yeah, not too surprising but still fantastic news. Something new to add to my collection!
Would love Millennium Actress next, GKids!

Memories got released on DVD a LONG time ago in the US.
Until about 5-6 years ago, it wasn't that hard to find. I remember seeing copies of that film and Steamboy (another Sony license) at Barnes and Noble. I got my copies of both these films at Big Lots, a discount chain store for $5 a piece but that was closer to 10 years ago.
Memories was a Columbia Pictures/Sony release just like the original DVD of Tokyo Godfathers and the BD and DVDs of Paprika were. Paprika itself recently got another print run on Blu ray but should be no different than the Blu ray release of oh 8-9 years ago?
Tokyo Godfathers you can get on import/open-region/soft-coded B from the UK just like the UK Metropolis BD release (but NOT the DVD included with the BD!!!) was soft-coded.
As far as Perfect Blue goes, you might as well just wait until the US version comes out so that you don't have to deal with the region-lock which is unfortunately the case for the UK Perfect Blue BD release.

The Australian BD of Tokyo Godfathers is either region-free or AB, either way it plays fine in region A players. Though the image is badly windowboxed...

Memories is with Mill Creek through their deal with Sony. They’re about to reissue it in a double feature with Tezuka’s Metropolis. They also released that on Blu-ray, so maybe there’s hope for Memories.

Having Perfect Blue Japanese BD version with terrible remastering, I hope the licensed version has better picture quality.

It's a port of the UK Blu-ray, though I'm unsure if it's a different master than the one Japan used.
