And this is why we can't have nice things. I can't blame the city for its decision, but it's still a sad way for it to end.

Oh, the hilarity! Isn't it poetic?

Yes, really sad ... I wonder if someday we will be able to live in a world where peoples could stop caring about other's innocent hobbies if they hate them so much they can't help but trashing them. Living for hating doesn't seem interesting for me .

They don't seem to be fans but a bunch of dumbots pulling a prank for no good reason, jail will teach them not to mess with city property.

^ Lmao getting jail time over something as stupid as this? They are only 16 and 17 respectively, a fine seems like it's more than enough. You should note how a lot of people in Japan hate otaku related culture and something like these "manholes" helps promote it.

I may dislike idol series as much as many other users here, but the way some people "express themselves" here is what's wrong among us.

Uhh... Vandalizing government property is pretty serious. Tax payer money funds these things, so yes jail time should be handed out. And since when does "hating" something make it OK to destroy someone else's property? Geeze, people these days.

It was only scratched by the two people who were arrested, seems like someone else painted over it. Regardless they should have expected something like this. Also they are minors so again it's to be expected. It was a manhole it would have got scratched up either way.

And probably Uma Musume fans as well. They and Idolmaster fans do not like Love Live because it does not have its own self-insert man.

Not as much as poetic as seeing posters that slammed idol materials as if they're all trash because they seems to think they're some kind of a higher life form with more intelligence that likes watching space opera or the hilarity of seeing idiots that doesn't realized Japan likes installing colorful manholes cover all over their nation. Oh, how hilarious it is indeed.

It's disappointing to repeatedly see people repeatedly rail against fans of other properties, jokingly or not. These sweeping judgements based on unsubstantiated claims really just worsens relations in the community.

From what I see of cached sources from before the twitter account in the article was suspended, the device in question was a 孔雀 (lit. peacock). These are concert light sticks arranged in a fan shape you might see used by some people in the hardcore wota community. Recent events within the LoveLive fandom have labeled these as annoyances because they shine very brightly and are distracting during a live performance. The person who posted the video was aware of the controversy regarding these modified concert lights and did so mostly as a trollish joke. He denied actually damaging the manhole cover but he knew what he was instigating.

I just love it when criminals dig their own graves by putting the crime that they have committed on the internet seriously you can not get any dumber than that. Laughing
