A vending machine...heh, why not? I'm for it if the story is well written.

You know, I was all set to pick up the first volume, but the cover really gave off a "trying to hard to be sexy" vibe, and ultimately led me to pass it over in favor of another new series. Glad to know that in this case you can "judge a book by its cover" to some degree.

@BodaciousSpacePirate
I preordered this title and read it when it came in. I didn't notice anything that qualifies as "trying to be sexy". I expect that depends on what you bring to it. I did find it to be very enjoyable and I was surprised how far the author was able to take a squirrely concept. Like Theron I question how this will work as a series, but the first volume was a lot of fun.

I actually thought it had less awkward “sexiness” than most LNs because the book makes a point that Boxxo is a Vending Machine and no longer has any sex drive. All the standard cringey tropes of boob grabs and blushing go out the window when the character can recognize that the women are attractive but doesn’t actually feel physical attraction. And some stuff approaches sex in a much more mature fashion vending condoms to the “ladies of the night” to minimize spread of STDs is the smart thing to do.
I truly loved this book. It’s very much a relaxing read and it definitely made me happier simply by reading it: it’s not high literature but it did just what I’d want it to, offer a light and enjoyable few hours.

I've seen quite a number of positive reviews for this book. I had originally written it off as "seems too ridiculous, I probably wouldn't like it," but now I'll probably give it a read when I get a chance.

I did too, now I have to read it.
Edit: Finished reading it. I thought it was pretty good. Looks like they are going to go the Made in the Abyss route in future novels. I am game.
