Coming from the manga, it's interesting how the adaptation seems to be moving so fast that watching it weekly gets you through events faster than sitting down and reading the original material without breaks.
Also, Hina is (best) worst girl.
Lastly, between this and Golden Kamui, this is a good season for "Hina"/"Hinna."

I feel like Steve and Micchy pretty much perfectly captured my feelings about this show. I don't always know what to think of it while watching, except that it somehow works fantastically and I have no idea how. I had never heard of it at all before this season, but I absolutely love Hinamatsuri now.

Every once in awhile there's a comedy that hits all my funny buttons. This series is IT. I haven't laughed out loud, so often, since Azumanga Daioh, (Binbogami ga! came close). I'm so happy to see something so off the wall and I hope it continues to be so.

...It is?? She was flat-out blackmailed into the job. Honestly, Hitomi's plot thread is the one issue I have with the show so far. Most of the time, Hitomi seems very uncomfortable where she is, and I usually just feel bad for her, which ruins the comedy in those moments for me.
Besides that, I'm loving the dry humor and polished animation of this show, and I hope it maintains this level of quality.

I was glad to hear about the adaptation particularly because it seemed far less well-known than it deserved. The manga or author didn’t even have an encyclopedia entry before the anime.

A lot happens with it yet. Not sure if you’ll find that better or worse but it’s probably my favourite plot thread in the series.

"Innocent person keeps getting dragged into the bizarre happenings and usually suffers for it" is a type of comedy that doesn't work for everyone - especially when said person is a young girl - so that's fair enough. For me, it depends on how its executed, and in this case it's done pretty damn well. I do feel a bit bad for her, but that doesn't stop it being so funny.

Oh boy, you're in for a ride.
She ends up as prime minister of Japan due to her inability to say "no," and everyone thinks she engineered it in a cold-blooded fashion.

(She eventually comes to mostly accept her success, though, so it’s not all tragic.)

I checked this out based off of seeing the article on the front page. It ended up being my brand of anime humor. We'll see how it goes though. A lot of comedy anime holds me for 5-7 episodes then I fall off.

Somewhat reminiscent of being directed by Takeshi Beat Kitano: this show has his style.

I didn't have any expectations for this, but I knew a few minutes in that I was in love. It reminds me of my experience with Classicaloid.
Anime comedy is really hit and miss with me, but I laugh so much while watching Hinamatsuri.

Aside from the fact that what she's doing is extremely illegal (at least over here), the whole blackmailing her into doing the job did make me very uncomfortable, because it can potentially screw up her life. Wouldn't Utako (I had to look up her name) be in bigger trouble for having a middle schooler work in her place, though?
Blackmail is a pretty prevalent theme in this show, come to think of it.

It's only really revealed in the latest translated chapters (vol 15), so unless it gets several cours, I very much doubt we'll ever see it in the anime.
Of course, there's a small chance we might see a prequel of sorts incorporating those events should the show prove popular enough...
