When I saw the headline, I thought of the race card.

But in some manga the uncoloured white hair are actually brown or black. Although maybe in this case they decided to make it white in the middle of the manga so they had to make that trick.

I can state, from first-hand experience, that black hair is deceptively complicated to do artistically. It ends up looking like a large, indefinite, mass since all line art is also black. That's why most main characters in anime either have some abstract color to their hair, and characters with black hair tend to have highlights or tinges of other colors that almost suggest it's just a very dark version of the that color (usually blue, but sometimes purple or green). It's fine if the unimportant or background characters have black hair, because you're not going to be looking at them much, they won't be drawn too often. But otherwise it can create a design challenge; nothing impossible, but like Mr. Editor explains, time consuming.

Didn't Toriyama himself say this back in one of those early Viz Shonen Jump issues? I also seem to recall him saying that he would destroy parts of the background so that he wouldn't have to draw them again.

And this is why there can be effective virtue and brilliance in simplicity.

Soooo I guess we can finally drop all pretenses of Kubo's mostly-featureless Bleach backgrounds as being a "stylistic choice," then? Razz

It is a stylistic choice tho. He got tired of them cause he didn't think they added much, so he discarded them (most of the time.) Heck, even if he was being lazy, it's still a a stylistic choice. Razz

How many times does old news like this have to be reported before it finally becomes common knowledge? Also, why do geeks and nerds care about such stupid little sh** like this? Just take it for what it is and move on. They just can't enjoy a TV show without questioning irrelevant details.

The only thing I do want to know is how did Piccolo communicate with Trunks and Goten in the hyperbolic time chamber in real time when it flows differently in there? That's an actual plot hole that needs to an official answer. The only answer I can come up with is maybe Piccolo connecting to them even telepathically can somehow cancels the chamber's magic until he signs off.

What happened to enjoying a TV show without questioning irrelevant details? And nerds & geeks who care about such stupid little stuff needing to just enjoy something for what it is and moving on?

So you don't do stuff just to do them because you have sense.....then admit grinding your feet on Eddie Murphys couch too?
