I played the remastered version of the game on PS4, and man that game didn't age. I havn't tested the others because they got hammered by critics, but in my view all they need to do is use the old system and give new maps/story. There's 0 reasons to reinvent the wheel here, they already got a perfect engine in the PS4 remaster.

I'm guessing it's Revolution for the phone. Japanese market-voodoo about "the console market" aside, the only reason Revolution could have been that bad was because the title franchise may be in other hands, and if so, they're going to try and canvas the market as wide as possible. Any new Valkyria could only be a "do-over" if Revolution's reviews were as universally-accepted bad in Japan as they were here, and...anybody got any info on that? |

It's not so much Revolution did any damage to the series given it never really caught on....until it found new life on the PC.
Did Sega personally finance the production of Shenmue 3 or not have to rely on a fangame maker to make a 2D Sonic game that's as good as the Genesis era titles?
....It was supposed to be the opposite of what a Valkyria Chronicles game was given it was a spin-off and not a sequel.
Not for nothing but putting the other games on the PSP made far more sense when you factor in things like Sega's home market, where the PS3 was sitting at in Japan during this time, and given that worldwide sales for the series didn't exactly justify the prospect of putting all the newer games on the PS3.....as for the anime tropes haven't played the 2nd or 3rd Chronicles games but they couldn't be any worse than what was in the first game where pretty much every character was a walking cliche for good or ill.
They weren't universally accepted as bad here they're all over place more like http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/valkyria-revolution |

Very unlikely. Read the third paragraph: http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2017/11/13/sega-publishes-new-valkyria-project-teaser/ Also, Valkyria Chronicles already had a mobile game called Valkyria Chronicles Duel. If this gonna be another mobile game, the teaser site would not have various language options. Mobile games usually do not leave Japan. |

If they did a proper VC 4 which included multiplayer then they could have a real winner on their hands. The balance of the origional VC wouldn't have worked very well with multiplayer as too often maps relied on you sweeping up quickly in your first turn taking out as many enemies as possible, but I'm sure they could make it work.
Perhaps a prequl based around the First Europan war with Welkin's and Isara's fathers? Sega? Please????!!! |

Yep, that game is still utterly fantastic. |

Revolutions tried spinning off onto the "mystical" story elements of Chronicles, but the appeal of the original Chronicles is how you're basically playing realistic European WWI/II-simulation with anime style and more relatable characters, rather than the grittier real-world casualties. Any game with the added game design of choosing your players' strengths and weaknesses by personality quirk (eg. "Country girl"= does poorly in urban settings, "Girl crush" = chatting weakness next to other female characters) is going to create anime-ready player identification for the whole massive range of playable characters in short order. Why else would I be so glad that they finally included Hatsune Miku's Sega-promotional Alicia outfit in Project Diva: Future Tone? |

Were you under a rock the past 2 months? We're getting VC4 and it's a return to form of the Valkyria Chronicles gameplay and style we know and love.

Sadly, I'm expecting a mobile version, too, but if the big announcement is a more Chronicles-related and fan-placating Valkyrie Do-Over for the PS4 (or even upgrades of the missing 2 & 3), I'll be happy as a winged pig. |
