So we have the Kino's Journey author who wrote this spinoff so essentially it could potentially be good, right?

Is it weird that I'm more excited about this than the third season?

We get this but no Girls Ops? Come on...

I think I read like the first chapter of the manga. I'm sure it'll be better received than the original since Kirito isn't in it...

Maybe this'll get Yen Press to not overlook the light novel.

If it is then we're both weird.

First a new Kino's Journey anime and now this? Keiichi Sigsawa must be over the moon at seeing his works adapted.

Not at all. With an already well proven author behind the original story that this anime is based off of, as well as a return to what I personally believe is the best game world that SAO put together, this is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Something to note; both series were announced at the same time. Do they intend to air them at the same time, or maybe air one after the other?

I feel it might take from sales of one or the other if they were to come both at once, but I couldn't know for sure.

Not a Sword Art Online fan but this sounds neat.

Wow, now that's a way to shoot down something without having seen it or at least waiting until its first episode is even out yet. Judging by covers is not always going to be a good idea in case you miss out on something that could be fun.

Anyway, does this spinoff novel/anime require any prior watching of the Sword Art Online anime or is it possible to go in here completely blind without being lost? Because an author of his resume being behind this has gotten me intrigued into trying it out.

The spin-off has a completely new cast, and doesn't seem to show characters from the main series, other than as some references here or there. They're basically different series in the same universe.
