Yet still no Symphogear announcement
But seriously, not a massive fan of the series but glad it's streaming on CR instead of going to die on Strike (and this is coming from a Strike subscriber!). I'm assuming CR's relationship with TV Tokyo probably helped with acquiring this so early. Last edited by Swiftyy on Fri Jul 14, 2017 10:57 pm; edited 1 time in total |

This is a why to fight Anime Strike or Netflix. That is, you announce the plan over 2 months in advance and the licensor is a company who has a strong rapport to anime fans.

I second that comment about getting xebec back these character designs look terrible I have a feeling they're going to butcher black clover the same way they did twin star exorcists now look ,no ones even talking about that series . Perriot literally killed its entire momentum,

Pierrot.

Xebec's design were ugly as hell and do you people actually believe shonen jump would let Pierrot ruin one of their new hot property?

Honestly, their recent track record of Tokyo Ghoul and Twin Star Exorcists doesn't lean toward a great adaptation. Tokyo Ghoul has a hate-base since it doesn't follow the Manga, and Twin Star never really picked up any traction from what I could tell, even if I did enjoy both of them myself. I want to have faith it'll still be good since I'm really quite enjoying what they've done with Boruto so far and their Bleach, Naruto (and similar) adaptations tend to be faithful. But overall, their newer stuff doesn't seem to be very well received for one reason or another, which is a shame given that I was excited for this title. But I guess time will tell. |

Pierrot.

That statement would only be fair if Black Clover had the same staff as those two. Not to mention, It was decided by the original author of TG himself that the anime would have an alternate storyline so Pierrot has got nothing to do with how it ended up. Also, Twin Star not picking up any traction is not true. The anime was popular in China which gained 250 million views and I'm sure that's nothing to be made light of. http://www.iqiyi.com/a_19rrhaeqtd.html%20 It was also Crunchyroll's third popular anime of 2016 by country. http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-feature/2016/12/29-1/feature-crunchyrolls-most-popular-anime-of-2016-by-country
Osomatsu-san was one of the biggest hits of the decade and their other shows like Akatsuki no Yona and Baby Steps were well received. Sure they had some duds but every studio has one. |

All fair points, guess we'll see. I am hoping it succeeds, just, in my area, their shows don't tend to do so well. Not that we have a large say whether an Anime is defined as "successful" or not. But I doubt it'll end up being an Anime I could talk about with people locally, which is a shame. But damn, didn't actually know they did Osomatsu-san, again, no one over here knows what that is, but it's popularity is indeed nothing to sneeze at for sure. |

Pierrot.

Oh and for the sake of comparison
Xebec's design Pierrot's design Pierrot's designs aren't as detailed as Xebec's and look quite plain overall but I prefer the coloring and they'll be easier to animate. Plus the faces look much better. |

Thank god this was spared from Amazon. Crunchyroll now has this and the Magus Bride covered for Fall. Only thing they have to keep safe is Kekkai Sensen S2 and they'll legit have a perfect line-up for me.
Thank-god Pierrot is doing this. Those designs by Xebec are kind of ugly, I'm sorry. |

It´s the convention that the source material it´s often better than its subsequent adaptations, but the anime series Black Cat and Clockwork Planet have been enough proof that the source can be just as bad, if not worse than its adaptations. You want some truths? 1- Given that TG´s first season is for the most part the first 9 volumes of the manga, then that means it´s not good. I expected a half-horror, half-action show with interesting characters. What I got? A series that pretends it´s dark but it´s pretty much shonen storytelling for adults, and its only terrifying chapter was when Kaneki was tortured by Jason. I still haven´t gotten a good, believable answer from anyone for why fans think the manga it´s good, other than "it has subtle foreshadowing" and crap I don´t understand, so I have no absolute desires to check out the manga. Good thing for those who are reading it thanks to the anime, but it had the opposite effect on me. And I hope it never gets a revival, remake or whatsoever, as there are much better stories more deserving of those treatments. And no, multiple foreshadowings doesn´t mean your manga is smart. It´s just a gimmick. 2- Sure, TSE´s anime original story isn´t the best written story, as I planned to watch the series till its last episode, but gave up on episode 46, but it had some nice episodes and additions that I even shared here in the episode forum for the series but no one noticed, citing what has good and what has bad. But then again, you think the manga it´s a masterpiece? Shonen series from 2012 onwards don´t tell an interesting theme, or a page-turner-y engaging story. Instead they follow the footsteps on Naruto, Bleach and Fairy Tail´s tropes with some slight variations, so while´s TSE´s manga is good, it´s nowhere near the likes of HxH or One Piece in terms of worldbuilding and character progression. And lately, the manga is not having it´s best storytelling, so don´t make illusions of reading it. 3- Black Clover is as interesting as a color-less cardborad. It´s a big-ass template shonen where you can adapt its universe and characters to anime, novels and videogame adaptations, and write a more interesting story than the one that is in the manga, which is a big-ass amalgam of tropes and stereotypes from shonen series of years past. To be really good, it has to stay away from some of it´s bad tropes and stereotypes and develop more into its own thing, which hasn´t happened yet. I didn´t, and never, want a faithful adaptation because it´s garbage in storytelling with some little personality, so Pierrot better make anime-original stories out of it. Maybe I´m begging too much, but I expect this series to at least become a new franchise for them in the same vein as Naruto. In fact, I expected them to give up on Naruto for now and make this series their next franchise. At least Boruto has anime-original episodes, since its manga counterpart it´s not interesting. And also, I don´t want a future where this series becomes SAO, which despite being garbage in story, it sells because it appeals to the lowest common denominator. About Black Clover´s OVA, yeah the character designs might not be perfect, but given it´s an OVA, the visuals were beautiful and on point. Or you call the visuals bad because the character designs? |

Those are some very strong opinions you have there. I should point out, I don't read the Twin Star Manga, I was simply commenting that I don't think the Anime was as widely-successful as they had hoped it would be, but my personal stance is that I enjoyed the Anime and would probably read the Manga at some point. I've read the first Tokyo Ghoul Manga (not RE) and didn't have any strong opinions against or for it. It was a decent Manga with a cool art-syle and premise for me. I never thought of it as something you could write an essay on, nor did I think it was utter trash that should be burned. Again, like with Twin Star, I was merely remarking upon the perception that people seemed to go out of their way to hate Tokyo Ghoul simply because it didn't follow the Manga, even though, again, I enjoyed the Anime. Taking both those perceptions into account, my prediction is that Black Clover will become an Anime that is swept under the rug in my area. As both of those Anime have been considered failures where I am, even if I personally enjoyed both of them for what they were. I should once again point out that I have not seen the Black Clover OVA or read the Manga, but nonetheless I am excited for this Anime adaptation, because I'm an optimist. I just think it will not be something I could talk about with friends based on Pierrot's past failures as of late, in my area. I was making a simple comment about my prediction of the Anime's success in my local area. Not judging Pierrot or any Manga/Anime in any sense. Simply making a prediction based on my perception of related topics. Your comment feels like it's meant to be a counter-argument to something, but I was not intending to create a topic of debate, merely making a statement of opinion. I feel like you misunderstood my intention, so all I can really do is re-iterate myself clearer and hope you understand. |

That's good to know. I think Pierrot's shows just don't do very well in my area and that has influenced my perception negatively. Let's hope Black Clover succeeds. |
