I read a volume or two or the Fruits Basket manga back in the day, and I was really getting into it, but with college looming and other expenses I never continued reading it. Now seeing that the manga is over 20 volumes, I dont really want to spend that kind of money on it. I have noticed there is an anime version of it, however it is significantly shorter. So my question is this: if I get the anime version, will it still pull me in and have the same main story as the manga even though I'm missing out a lot?

The anime follows the manga through volume 7 (plus one subplot from volume 8) extremely closely, concluding at a pivotal point in Tohru's relationship with Kyo, plus a final episode completely unrelated to the manga that somewhat wraps things up as the anime only covers about a third of the manga. But it does leave alot of loose ends that will probably make it very difficult not to buy the manga. That's what happened to me, and I'm glad I'm following the manga, because the anime was only the tip of the iceberg. Name just about any character in the anime and their story only gets deeper and you care about them even more.

Streaming on Crunchyroll today, this film shows why this is one of the series' most popular arcs—even if a bit too much was left on the cutting room floor.― One of the most interesting choices that came from adapting Overlord IV is that the series skipped an entire arc—two entire light novels worth of story. This left an odd gap between episodes seven and eight of that series—where we go from Ainz d...

I figured the anniversary of my accident would be the toughest part of this week, but it looks like fate had other plans in store. On the other hand, I at least feel encouraged; if I can survive a car, I can survive a lot else. Besides, I have a column to write—some...

Sonic X Shadow Generations is a strong contender for one of the best 3D Sonic experiences― Shadow is so damn cool, guys. There are a lot of positive things I'm going to say about this game, from the narrative to the replay value to the level design. Although nominally an artbook, this might be just as easily described as a collection of folklore.― “Shigeru Mizuki,” translator and scholar Zack Davisson says in his introductory essay, “lived in a vibrant fantasy world where every tree, every blade of grass was infused with spiritual energy.” If any one thing comes through in this collection of Mizuki's artwork, it is this – there's a deeply roote...
