Santa Kleckner, does this mean you have escaped from your captors via Gundam, or can I add another bracket?

Fourth wave fan, big fan of that yearly sale, Btw.

A lot of great stuff in this podcast episode. First of all I want to let Shawne know that I buy most of my anime from Right Stuf, and the company has a great service. I am happy to hear that the Gundam deal is working well for you. I have only bought 5 Gundam products from you, but I plan on buying 3 more series and at least 2 OVA's.

I am a big fan of Sound of the Sky, and I would love to see Right Stuf release it on BD. I also look forward to those Utena BD's. I heard that the Japanese BD's for Uttena are shit, but I trust that the Right Stuf discs will be of good quality. I have not decided if I want to buy a special edition of Utena, if one is offered, but if all the soundtrack CD's are included, I will buy the fancy edition.

Again, thank you Right Stuf for all the great things you do for anime fandom.

I wholeheartedly second that desire. I do like what Nozomi provided with their initial release (informative booklets like that have been rarer with them since then), but was still a little disappointed that it was only DVD for a HD title. While I've been hesitant to double-dip for Blu-ray on some things, SotS is one title where it would be practically certain for me.

If Shawne is reading the forum, were Build Fighters' numbers strong enough to have supported a North American English dub?

On that same train of thought, since BF did well with an SEA dub, any chance of digging up those dubs for the other Gundam shows that have never been released here? I know AGE has one. Kind of too late for ZZ, though.

spoiler[I need to dig up that Movie Trilogy so I can see why Sunrise wants that wiped from history but has no problems with Gundam's other shaky dubs.]

I'm glad Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam is doing well. That one's my favorite, and while I already own it on DVD, I'm double-dipping on the Blu-Rays (I have the first set, probably getting the second for X-mas). I'd like to double-dip for the original Gundam movie trilogy on Blu-Ray if that becomes available, so please make that happen!

I don't want to spend too much on Gundam now, though. I mean, I sank tons of money into the Gundam Unicorn OVA Blu-Rays. It's a great OVA, but FFS.

It's scheduled for early 2017.

Has there been any mention whether released non UC shows like Wing or Seed will be re-released?

Well glad to hear that business seems to be doing well. And its cool that they designed their packages and had them done in Minnesota. Almost everything I've gotten has been very well protected and its one of the reasons I shop there. Unlike the irritation and waste of time I've had with amazon because they consistently package stuff badly.

Faster physical releases? What about the whole reverse importation fear on Japan's side? What about the hold backs by Japanese companies? Yea, there are people who want their product instantly. Funny thing is if I like a show I don't mind waiting up to two years to get it. I figure by that time I'm ready for a rewatch. As far as merchandise I would buy more if more of it appealed to me. Some designs just don't really impress me.

I missed the LE the first time around and wouldn't mind a crack at picking up a BD LE version myself.

In regards to email marketing:
"Marketing works"--Shawnee

And this is why companies love to spam you with relentless emails. And this is why I don't allow companies like Amazon, Rakuten, etc, etc, and now RightStuf to send me those emails. I know some people like to get endless emails, but I am not the target audience. At least RS got the hint fast and stopped sending me emails unlike other companies that continue to send emails months after you've opted out.

The already-released After War Gundam X and Turn-A Gundam are both non-UC, right?

Who knows, they might just be saving the well-known stuff that ran on Toonami / Adult Swim (Wing, Seed G) for later, since that stuff will basically sell itself on the power of nostalgia. Could be a good strategy for fighting Gundam fatigue after covering 30+ years of Gundam over only a few years of re-releases. If they led with Wing, there might not be a lot of enthusiasm left later to look at something like a Turn-A. Totally speculating, obviously.

Yes, although Thorge was referring to shows that were released in the US prior to Rightstuf obtaining the Gundam license; neither X nor Turn A had ever been released over here before.

I agree, though, that they are saving the more popular titles as part of some future attempt to stave off "Gundam fatigue".

Well, like he said, as great as that might be, it isn't happening. Although, I do agree that getting the discs later presents a good excuse to rewatch something. I've been doing that lately now that several of Funimation's simuldubs are releasing on discs. After a year or more, my memory of some details is fuzzy enough that I want to see the shows again.

Glad to hear that Gundam is doing well for them. I was worried that it still wouldn't have a big enough audience in the US.

Primus, By NA dub, I assume you mean an Ocean dub? I have some several Gundam titles but I think the Ocean dubbing days are almost done. Currently, that talent pool has had success with MLP:FIM.

^Pretty sure he was referring to Los Angeles & New York since that's where most recent Gundams have been getting dubbed since Unicorn.

Speaking of Build Fighters, I wonder if Island Wars will have a dub when that gets brought over?
