Based on the description it sounds like this gun battle will be one of the key features of the movie. Cool

I'm hopeful that this movie will be good. There's seems to be a sufficient amount of effort behind it and Johansson seems to be a good fit for the major now that I'm actually seeing her in the role. But it could also suck hard. And considering past Hollywood attempts at adapting anime properties into live action films, that wouldn't be all that unprecedented.

The only prediction I can make at this point is that I don't think this film will be a total disaster.

Noticing some scenes from the first Oshii film.

The truck/car scene is similar to the chase sequence in the first anime film that inevitably leads up to the part where the Major goes invisible and beats down the guy in the water.

Also what seems like a quick shot of the Major on the boat similar to when she and Batou go diving.

Then there's her in a hoodie/raincoat thing that might be similar to the therm optic coat of the Laughing Man.

Do you know what I'm hoping for? That they at least give a small role to Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, the most famous English language voice of the Major. I'd love to see that, what do the rest of you think?

IGN has a new featurette showing off more cool stuff!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeZFxdr0ewE

- Mamoru Oshii commenting
- Scenes that are a recreation of the opening credits for the GITS anime film. 'Making of a Cyborg.'
- More of the geisha robots, which I'm figuring are part of a recreation of the opening scene to the SAC anime in the geisha house with a bit of what's seen in the opening of Innocence.
- The Major in her red outfit (commonly seen in ARISE).
- Therm optic suit looks better, it's not just a flat spandex outfit.
