Anyone else think the anime started off really strong, then it just sort of spiraled out of control and led up to an absolutely shit ending?

Anime was very rushed and forced in to one of those animes that could've been one of the greatest but was butchered by the studio

I have to ask the question how in the hell it did so well in Toonami when the last few episode were so shit. even this manga isn't even great and is ending so early with only 14 vols.

and how do you know that it was the studio that rushed it? could be the author that said that he wanted such a ending and anyway the anime was amazing one of the best ever made so i simply dont understand the hate that its getting simply because it started killing of all the characters...iam sure they had in plan to leave kinda just Akame alive which i think was a good decision because they brought us somethin new instead of characters miraciously surviving even though they were at war

War is hell and people die. They constantly showed that both sides were almost equal. It would be pretty unrealistic if only the bad guys died.

I feel that AgK is one of those series that try to be edgy by killing off the main characters but I'm satisfied with where the anime ended, it could have been worse. Yeah I'm looking at you current AgK manga.

Funny because a lot of AgK fans on forums I've been complained they introduced the stupid Gundam again, killed off Leone, raised death flags for Wave and Tatsumi. At least the anime knew it was bad and ended where it should.

early? the manga is monthly and is being published for 6 years. 15 volumes and almost 80 chapters is a very good number for a monthly manga, also, the story is naturally ending, simple, not every popular manga needs to be published for 10 years or more.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but the element of it being possible for any character to brutally killed at a moment's notice was simply not enough to drag me through the anime or manga. While at first it was kind of fun to speculate which character would abruptly be killed in a full page spread in the next scene, it really seemed to be jumping through the same hurdles as the series it tried to differentiate itself from. I guess my main issue with it is that the series seems to rely heavily on the idea that a character you see will probably be maimed or brutally murdered at some point and that it will shock you.
It also pretty much continuously filled itself with ridiculous and over-the-top gruesome acts to a comical degree. There are definitely reasons and ways to implement it and explore it in a way that similar series don't, but I think it really failed to do that properly in most cases. Like yeah I get it Champ was a disgusting waste of life, but there is such a distinct lack of complexity to these characters, to the point where you basically have him going "Gee I can't wait to rape some more children, oh look there is one with her mother on her father's grave haha I'm evil!"
I'm probably simplifying things too much, but shock value has its limits and at some point had me asking whether the series had anything more to offer. Who knows though, maybe it's improved substantially since the last time I read it.

I stopped reading the series not long after Chelsea was killed everyone on twitter was hyping it up as "better than attack on titan" when the anime was announced. Being a pretty big AoT fan at the time I tried it out...and was disappointed.
None of the characters were all that interesting (despite being the title character Akame was easily the most bland, and Tatsumi was so bland that i could predict his dialogue) to me and the whole "anybody can die" gimmick wore thin woth me pretty quick.
Im sure the series picked up when i stopped, but i just haven't cared enough to try again. All that being said it seems like by the story is getting a natural conclusion. Thats more than i can say for another series that just ended. So thats good.
