If all goes according to plan, I'll get my first anime collection, and guess what? It's the perfect collection of NGE with the two movies! And once I get it, I can kiss Cartoon Network goodbye!
Actully, I also own another anime (not a real one) it's one of the Pokemon (American Remake) episodes, but I'm already too old of that.

OK, not to jump all over you or anything, but two things:
1) Pokemon is just as much an anime as Evangelion in every way.
2) It wasn't "remade" it was just edited so it would be apropriate and understandable for little kids. No sence in trying to bring a show over for the little kids if they aren't going to understand any of the references. But still, it's relativly intackt.
(edit: Oh yeah, and out of curiousity, what made you choose the japanese DVD set over the english ones? You understand Japanese?)

NGE fully uncut and uncensored - coupled with the movies is a must.
I still have yet to watch the whole series for the mere fact of $$$. I know what happens, and I still wanna see it - and I hate spoilers 99% of the time.

Cool. The perfect collection plus both movies? That is a must for any EVA fan. Something I've been itching to get my hands on.
If you don't mind me asking, what does purchasing EVA have to do with not wanting to watch Cartoon Network? They have a variety of anime shows, and good ones too if you watch Adult Swim.
Pokemon is very much anime, just edited for American television.

How does acquiring a show Cartoon Network doesn't even (nor ever will again) show correlate to not having to watch them for anime again?
I'm sorry, call me crazy, but I'm sick & tired of all this "CARTUNE NETWURK R EVIL OMG OMG OMG!!!111" bullshit. It's old people. Old and childish. Yeah, I have grievances with stuff they've done, but for the most part I've been able to forgive and move on (not completely, mind you, but as it stands, Kenshin's the only thing I have trouble overlooking). The way some of the people here talk, you'd think they were in league with Adolf Hitler, Osama bin Laden, and Saddam Hussein! Get over it, people!

I agree with Nagisa. Half of the people that belong to this forum were probably first introduced to anime through cartoon network and my guess is that half of you would never have seen shows such as inuyasha, cowboy bebop and flcl if it had not been for cartoon network. I have saved hundreds of dollars and was first introduced to anime by cartoon network so i am pretty grateful towards them, eventhough they went a tad overboard on the kenshin edits.

YEAH! Cartoon Network isn't bad at all! It's the best man! It was where I really started getting into anime. It was where I watched Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing, Outlaw Star, Kenshin, and lots others! I hate it when people say it's bad, it's not! IT IS NOT! JEEZ LOUISE! It's probably how those people got started too! Evil people, not evil Cartoon Network.

Err... What english version? ADV has the rights to the TV series and so far has only revealed one DVD of it. Manga has the rights to the movies. Last I checked there is no all encompussing english collection, certainly not a joint collection between the two companies.
Now, if you mean you're buying the ADV box set and the Manga movie DVDs then that I can understand.

Uh, so you're just going to watch Evangelion over and over again, and never go back to Cartoon Network. Is this like going from diapers to pull-ups, and then proudly proclaiming yourself an adult?
Ah, children.

You can't get everything for Christmas. you're going to miss a lot of stuff if you're going to stop watching anime on cable.

I disagree about missing the action if you don't watch it on cable. I haven't watched anime on cn or techtv since july and I haven't missed anything (well important anyway.) Sure FLCL was on and I missed that. though I did catch one ep. There are plenty of other sources to get your fix. How many times have they rerun kenshin? or cowboy bebop, or trigun? It would be more plausible for me if I had the anime network channel or the flow of anime to US became faster and more streamlined but I don't and it hasn't. Oh, and just because you get one series on dvd doesn't mean you can quite tv all together either, you'll get bored very quickly.
