Serial Experiments Lain - both to update the tech in the story, and a much needed animation upgrade because while the show was good the animation is 'somewhat lacking' to say it politely.
Lauren's idea for Pet Shop of Horrors has a lot to commend it. |

Great Teacher Onizuka. I rewatch the series at least once in 2 years and animation not only hasn't aged well, it was subpar even at the time of show's original run (compare it with Infinite Ryvius for example). I doubt it can capture an audience though.
Second choice, Trigun. Again, I'd like too see updated visuals (I know that it won't be on the level of Badlands Rumble, but still). Plus, if they gonna make Maximum it'll be entirely different story. Hopefully with success of BBB it has a chance to be remade. Third option, Fushigi Yuugi. I picked up series recently and it's almost unwatchable. I think it needs decent team of writers who can improve pacing without sacrificing coherence. It's just drags for too long before anything interesting happens. Last edited by MajorZero on Fri Feb 12, 2016 1:38 pm; edited 1 time in total |

I completely agree with Hope's choice of Fruit's Basket. That manga is a beloved treasure to me...and the anime just fell flat for me on both entertainment and emotional levels. I would love someone to re-adapt that into the anime it deserves.
I also agree 100% with a Petshop of Horrors anime! I ADORE that manga, and I (luckily) have all of it. That could be a really cool anime if someone bothered to do it justice. (Also, maybe someone should think of a Genju no Seiza anime? Hehehe) |

The first series that comes to mind for me has Princess Jellyfish I loved the original 12 episode anime but it wouldn't hurt if it was made longer. I'd also like to see a Pet Shop of Horrors reboot though the OVA has a sentimental place in my heart it would have been nicer if it had not been so short.

I'd love a remake of Chance Pop Session that incorporates elements from the last 15 years of idol anime. I'm not talking about making the show into Love Live or anything; just some basic stylistic changes that would bring the series in line with more recent - and more successful - idol shows, while still retaining the anime's tendency to veer off in an experimental, "it's obvious the creators really liked His and Her Circumstances" direction.
It will probably never happen, because it's far easier to just make a new idol show, but I can dream, right? |

100% agree with Rebecca. I adore the manga of Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne. And while I enjoyed the anime too, I hated the way it ended. There was so much content from the manga left out...content that would have made for a more mature, much more satisfying story. So yes, please remake this!
I'd also love to see Fruits Basket & Pet Shop of Horrors get remade. |

Nick's proposed Clannad remake literally exists already, in the form of Clannad The Motion Picture, right down to its handling of Nagisa, Ushio, and the lack of a reset-button ending. Oddly, this "fixing" of Clannad's problems doesn't have a lot of defenders among the Key / Visual Art's fandom (though I quite like it myself).
As I said on the Clannad ANNCast, you can almost fashion a Nagisa-only "Machete order" Clannad out of the existing series: watch eps 1-3 and 19-22 of Clannad, followed by ep 1 and then 9-22 of Clannad After Story. It's not quite going to hold up logically, but hell, this is Clannad we're talking about. |

Blade of the Immortal for sure. The adaptation was cheap and rushed. This has a chance since it's getting a live-action movie.
I agree on Gunsmith Cats. That is a really fun series that deserves more than the 3 episode OVA it got. |

Like Gabriella Ekens i would like to see a remake of Fate/stay night.
But in a different way than her. A more faithful adaptation and and with ufotable quality of the Fate route. The DEEN version was ok but was not really perfect and make some mess of the routes. It would be good to have the Realta Nua epilogue, because the DEEN ending was to bittersweet. If you put the 2 ufotable adaptations (Unlimited Blade Works, Heaven's Feel) with this new Fate you would have the perfect Fate/stay nigh anime adaptation. |

Considering all that happened in the manga, Vampire Knight needs a remake. That and some of the bonus stories put in together. But as for CLANNAD, don't touch a winning formula, I love it just as it is.
Fruits Basket, I agree with too. It either needs a sequel or remake all together. No. 6 needs a sequel. We so want to see if Nezumi and Shion get back together. I for one hope they do. DRAMAtical Murder needs a redub period. The English actors with the exception of Clear just sucked. Aoba especially needs to know how to pronounce Koujaku's name and it's "Ko-jack-u" not "Konjiku." And one last one Kuroshitsuji needs to forget that whole second season ever exsisted. Wouldn't mind a remake of it seeing that the manga's still ongoing.[/b] Last edited by crazieanimefan1 on Fri Feb 12, 2016 1:32 pm; edited 1 time in total |

There's really only one sensible answer -- The Rose of Versailles remade by Ikuhara.

I've come here to say that idea for Fate/Stay Night is like a horrible fanfic, and ignores Archer having to be from the same timeline in all routes because of the Throne of Heroes and Counter Guardians existing outside of time.
(The only time this can be ignored is in Fate/Extra, because the Moon Cell is it's own thing separate from the Throne) |

I love the great ideas here, even if i'm not entirely familiar with every anime suggested. The Fate/Stay Night idea sounds particularly interesting to me.
My personal choice for a remake is extremely subjective (much like JO's), but my choice is Claymore, for many reasons. It is, and remains, my favorite anime of all time, but my multiple rewatchings have made me notice how lackluster some aspects of it can be at times. It may be silly to call a 2007 anime 'dated', but it certainly feels that way compared to the anime available now. Almost all the action scenes are speed-line fests, and the animation quality simply isn't that good, especially now that we've seen what animators can do with modest budgets (One Punch Man, Tokyo Ghoul, for a couple unfair comparisons). It could be done much, much better if made today. Furthermore, the ending of the anime really didn't do the story justice. While not "that bad" on its own, it's blown out of the water by the spectacle, stakes, and action of what comes in the manga. There are so many moments that deserve to be seen animated, with the heaviest of heavy metal soundtracks to go with them. Admittedly, some of the series' weakest material would be adapted as well, but Claymore is so action oriented that it shouldn't be too hard to expeditiously speed through it. The most important reason it needs a remake is, in my opinion, because this is the perfect time for it. Since I started watching anime, there has been a growing online sentiment of wanting more feminist stories, with good female characters that aren't constantly posing for the camera or being sexually exploited. Well, Claymore's cast is almost entirely non-sexualized women that are treated seriously by the story, and have their own conflicts, desires, and character arcs. To be honest, i'm surprised it isn't more popular than it is now; as far as i can tell, the fanbase is pretty tiny. A new, well-produced anime would probably be a big hit today; a violent, action-oriented, well-written, and mature series shouldn't be a hard sell. |

I agree about a remake of Legend of Basara. Let's have a full series please!
I'd also like to see a remake of Hana Yori Dango. As much as I love the original version, I have to admit it is pretty bizarre for a shoujo anime, and kind of hard to show someone who is only familiar with the various TV dramas or the manga. The muted orange + green color palette, the inconsistent character designs, the really ugly toys, etc. |
