I should just go ahead an purchase Shirobako when the money is right. I really liked the first few episodes I saw, but when the fifth episode (I believe it was the fifth maybe it was the sixth) was pulled for that little while I lost all of my momentum and didn't go back to finish it.
Also on Lord Marksman and Vanadis, can someone whose finished the series give me their overall impression of it? The first episode didn't really impress me all that much, but the dub clips I have been seeing Funimation put up have earned my mild interest. I'm just looking for some knowledge from someone whose watched it (or at least seen past the first episode). Last edited by Punch Drunk Marc on Mon Feb 08, 2016 11:29 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Given that Mobile Suit Gundam is followed by several more series (plus later inserted "interquels") all filled with more war I kind of get a First World War vibe from the series in retrospect. This is the big war that kills a lot of people but settles nothing and just sets the stages for even more war.
Typo. |

Man, talk about generic covers on those Pokemon movies. Still have all those on VHS.

I preordered the 3 set of the movies a few weeks ago. Can't wait for them to come in and have myself a nice little nostalgia trip. I remember them all pretty well though. I've also got 4ever (Celebi) and Heroes (the 5th movie with Latios/as) already, so next weekend I'll binge them all xD

The thing I most remember about Pokemon 2K was an exchange towards the end where Jessie is telling Ash something to the effect of "When you get involved with the opposite sex, you're gonna get nothing but trouble!" and then James adding in his most flamboyant voice, "yes, and that's the kind of trouble I stay out of". I nearly did a spit-take the first time I heard it and I still giggle whenever I do. I don't know if it's something that was snuck in for the English release or if the subtext was there in Japanese, but it's a classic example of getting one past...

This just reminded me that I need to order both Akame ga Kill Collection 1 and Zeta Gundam Part 1 as well.

The original Mobile Suit Gundam has what many of its recent incarnations lack: charismatic characters that command the attention of the viewer and natural build to an exciting climax.
I wish they could have the Japanese versions of those Pokemon movies. The dub mangled the entire message of Mewtwo Strikes Back. Yeah, I know, it's Pokemon, there's no demand, but come on. Also, the Japanese music was excellent. |

I'm curious, what was the message they mangled? I thought Meowth summed up the movie pretty well at the end. "We do have a lot in common. The same air, the same Earth, the same sky. Maybe if we started looking at what's the same instead of always looking at what's different...well, who knows?" EDIT: Re-reading my post it sounded kinda sarcastic, but I'm genuinely curious as I haven't seen the subbed version |

The English version overemphasizes a message of nonviolence: "fighting is wrong!" which is hypocritical considering the whole premise of Pokemon is fighting monsters. The Japanese version emphasized that the clones and the originals had the same right to exist and that both Mewtwo and Mew were on their high Ponytas. Plus there was a lot more corny, out-of-place added dialogue were there wasn't intended to be any.

I just checked and you can only watch Pokemon The Movie on the Pokemon website. The other movies so have their own pages and some of them have their trailers of the movies but the actual movies are not available to watch on the Pokemon website.

I just got my copy of Shirobako a couple days and can't wait to watch it again, it's become one of my favorites. I'm interesting in picking up the Gundam blu rays as well but I'm currently reading the Gundam Origin manga (it's fantastic) and I'm not sure if I should go back and watch the original now since I hear the Origin manga pretty much follows the same storyline. Does anyone know if Right Stuf will also be releasing the MSG compliation movies? I heard those were pretty good too.

Origin makes a lot of changes, large and small. Personally I prefer it to the TV series. |

Buy 'em and watch 'em in three years years or whenever you feel like revisiting the series and compare.
I believe they already have, though it's only on DVD: http://www.rightstufanime.com/Mobile-Suit-Gundam-Movie-Trilogy-DVD |

Shirobako is out?
I only rewatched it again a month ago. Well. time to rewatch it when I buy it. Again. There are no regrets. (Also I should send my shelves in sometime...if they're all out.) |
