Hey, I have decided to try and get into anime. I've heard good things about it and it looks pretty cool.
However, I don't know anyone who reads/watches anything. I was wondering whats a good place to start, like whats a good movie/series to watch that will help me understand anime. I dont speek any launguage other than English so I also don't understand the different 'kinds' of anime.

any help is much appreciated. Thanks

I don't mean to sound rude, but isn't this kind of thing what psycho (I mean Tony) started these recommendation threads for?

What is there to "understand" about anime, exactly? More info may be required here to clarify.

As for me, I picked a genre (there are plenty to choose from), found a series that appealed (ditto) to me and watched it. Your concern about language may be a myth, as I speak no language but English and have had little to no problems with the many series I have watched.

my cousin was not a anime fan at all and he watched 200 eps of Naruto in a mere 2-3 weeks. i think that was what cracked him into anime, also Claymore too. if anything i suggest you watch Claymore... don't really see how anyone can hate that.

I know this thread is going to be locked and I shouldn't post, however I feel I must respond to one comment. I want to point out and remind everyone the idea for the recommendation genre threads goes to Tony K. and he started one already (action) so I just wanted to give an acknowledgment to him. I apologize to mods for the post but I wanted to make sure Tony got credit himself for starting the genre recommendation threads to begin with.
