Can we please have proper lip sync for english dubbed games? The last english dubbed game I remember having english lip sync was Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3.

Tobi's voice sounds so weird compared to NUNS 3. Did they switch back to Vic Mignogna voicing him?
Dan Floyd, a professional animator, says during his playthrough of Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix that lip-synching to different languages is a tremendous amount of work and can only be done for games the developer is sure will sell well internationally. |

The lip sync for this trailer is garbage.

Supposedly, that's Michael Yurchak, the guy who originally voiced Tobi for this trailer. Voice not fitting the personality aside (and I mean just the personality, not Wataru Takagi's voice), unfortunately I can see any fan who views this trailer as a easy means to reinforce why they don't like the dub and would never listen to anymore of it even though they probably never had any intention of playing the games or watching the show dubbed in the first place, yaddi-yaddi-yadda. It's the same repeated beats I see with this kind of thing, which honestly is very exhausting. |

Yeah, I remember putting up a playthrough of 2 and 3 on YouTube and getting a lot of complaints that I chose the English dub voices. That being said, a few of them do sound more phoned in than usual; Maile Flanagan is oddly subdued in this voicing Naruto than in the other games, for one, but Kate Higgins as Sakura is giving it her all.
When I see complaints about NOT having a dub in other anime, it's jarring to see Naruto is the other way around sometimes. Having Michael Yurchak play such a serious and imposing character feels weird to me. Before he went into voice acting, he did improv comedy (and was briefly part of the Broken Lizard troupe), and I personally feel he is ill-suited to anyone not a bumbling comic relief character. (Good thing by the time he voiced Jet the Hawk in the Sonic games, Jet had already become such a character.) |

Must've been grating I assume. |

It was at first, but I eventually developed the resistance to tune them out and ignore them.

I'm gonna confess something silly given the context of this discussion, but I still have yet to play any of the Ultimate Ninja Storm games. I mean, I've played a few of the Clash of Ninja games and have been meaning to start getting the storm games, but because I haven't played the recent storm games I don't know how much of an opinion I should give regarding the English localization. That said, I have heard occasionally from certain voice actors that for non triple A video games, actors can walk in to a recording session and are asked to perform lines without being given enough context as to how to deliver them due to it probably being a rush job. I don't know how much truth there is to that nowadays but it would make sense to me. That and the dub recording for the anime have been behind the games since Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 I think? That has seem to cause actors to deliver lines for moments in the story of the game that they may not be given much understanding of. It's also seemingly causing other actors to be cast for roles of what would be recurring characters later in the anime without fully understanding what kind of characters they're voicing. Also, some might immediately pull the free speech argument for what I'm to say, but I'd personally would just remove comments on your videos altogether. I mean, they're your videos you're uploading on your channel at the end of the day. Figuratively speaking, you as the host are more entitled to how you want the guests you invite in your home to behave then how the guests at your home choose to behave. |

I believe that everyone should get a chance to say what they want to say, and by putting something up as a YouTube comment, their intent is to make their words available to anyone who passes by. Hence, I only remove comments if they are attempts to advertise something or if they're overly abusive. So far, none of this yelling about Naruto dubs has been so abusive that I have to pull them. This level of abuse has only happened with Sonic so far.
Most of these complaints have little to do with the context of the voice acting in the Naruto Storm games in particular, but either with things that have already happened in the anime (the most common complaint, by a long shot, is pronunciation of words like "Hokage" or "sensei" with an American accent) or with dubs in general (that is, they don't want anime to be dubbed into English at all). I do get the occasional complaint about delivery or inconsistency, but it's pretty clear there are more complaints that an English dub exists at all than there are complaints about the games' acting quality relative to that of the anime. Any attempts to pry into how they tick by asking questions gets me responses like "You won't understand," "Isn't it obvious?," or "There's no hope for you," which leads me to believe they don't really know why they believe what they do either. |
