Of course in the case of Evangelion it's actually a de-evolution: returning humanity to the primordial ooze it originally came from. All because a bunch of old men couldn't get into heaven so they decided to make their own.

What the heck? Was the survey only up there for a minute? |

Apparently two went up accidentally or something, and one with the wrong title, so now I'm extra confused animenewsnetwork.com/survey/611/ EDIT: Welp looks like it's fixed. |

There was a brief issue with the poll; the correct poll is the Digimon poll and it is the only one the article links to.

And what about all the Harry Potter/X-Men cloning "Special ability school" series, of which the only one that springs to mind for me is Alice Academy?
(Since I never got through Irregular at Magic High School, and still lazily working my way through When Magical Battles Become Commonplace.) |

From the title of the article I would've expected to see From The New World listed.

It's a bit of a surprise that Devil Lady has been mentioned (and a pleasant one at that). At first, Jun was terrified of her transformation into a half-devil, but she got used to it after a few fights. However, it isn't until her friend Kasumi gets caught in the midst of her struggle that her uncertainty of being a half-devil causes her to question her purpose...

Wouldn't this be genetic engineering rather than evolution at work? Most of these cases involve deliberate tampering with genetic material not random mutations becoming viable.

Well, there is that series that had the same themes but saying which series and what species ruins whatever point the show had; Suffice it to say, that evolutionary jump was voluntary if awkward, especially how it gave beings the ability to breathe in space and underwater.
Or were they not breathing at all? There's also the show where it went horribly weird... and wrong, spoiler[Utawarerumono]. Another spoiler example, I have to stop thinking of shows where the evolution plot was a twist, like Elfen Lied; Yeah, you were supposed to think of them as human, until... a plot point not even covered by the anime actually, but it was creepily started to be introduced though. Anyway, they're spoiler[all sterile and they age twice as fast except for] guess who. It changes the whole "mutant" concept, especially regarding the idea that Diclonii are predisposed to spoiler[killing all humans for evolution supremacy] as a species, with one exception. This time, guess the other one. She still feels the urge though, she's still not human after all. This show really needs a remake or a conclusion. Or at least a full plot synopsis with every DVD sold. |

I've actually enjoyed almost every single Digimon series, but I have to go with Tamers.
Adventure will always have a special place in my heart, but Tamers just has, IMO, the better characters, writing, plot, animation, and villains. And that ending... |

I don't get how that went wrong. Yeah, they chose to flee to space colonies to avoid persecution, but that isn't due to a flaw in their evolution. Yes, a war broke out, but it isn't like humanity never had those before. There are some twisted coordinators, but there are plenty of equally twisted naturals so that isn't a flaw with the evolution either. Also, the perfection of the coordinator evolution (and his girlfriend) eventually end up stopping all the wars. For an evolution to have gone wrong, there should need to be some aspect of it that ended up worse off. Like maybe they have a greater tendency to favor violence such as in Elfen Lied (though as mentioned nurture. However, coordinators only have the exact same negatives people did before that and are just better at doing everything. |

I'll be the token heathen and vote for Frontier.
My Digimon viewing was always pretty spotty, and while I enjoyed the random episodes I saw of seasons 1 and 2 (poor Ken ;__;), hero henshining gets my blood pumping most of all. Also I feel bad for Tri. How many votes can it get when 1 movie's competing with seven seasons? |

I would say maybe the "meats" from The Book of Bantorra.
