I still can't decide if it's stupid or funny that they simply took historical person and turned him into a henchman for a villian.

They are really putting an effort for this special. One piece first director will be directing the special and the singer of my favourite opening in the series will sing the theme song.

I'm ready.

She made my favorite One Piece Opening! This special gonna be good.

And it seems beginning now we will get 2 One Piece full length specials! "Episode of" and "Adventure of"! Amazing Anime hyper
Note: Though 2012, the beginning of full length specials, and 2014 had 2 One Piece full length specials, but they were both "Episode of".

I'm sure the special will be fun, but in a "turn off your brain" kinda way. It seems ridiculous that the Foxy pirates (from WAY back early in the series) could do anything to the Strawhats at this point, even WITH the fact that they'd be on a "devil fruit blocking island". (which... how does that work with Chopper and Brook?!?) I mean, 5 (of the 9) crew members don't even HAVE devil fruit powers, and Luffy should be well beyond needing them against Foxy. Heck, with where they are post-timeskip, Nami & Usopp SHOULD be able to handle Foxy's crew by themselves.

That's really One Pieces shtick though, taking famous people (or at least their names and/or look) and turning them into characters. Not just pirates and warriors, but also musicians, actors, world leaders, and even other anime.

I'm not a big fan of the Foxy Pirates so I'm a little underwhelmed by this.

I'm curious what sort of effect the fog will have on them. In early One Piece stories the salt water simply stopped a fruit user's powers, but in later stories it completely drained all of their strength. Sea prison stone is pretty inconsistent as well, sometimes it just blocks powers, and others it removes all strength. I'm guessing the fog will only block their powers because I can't picture Luffy, Chopper, Robin, and Brook crawling around the entire episode.

This looks to me like they're just looking for something to get a few members of the main cast back into the mix after being a little neglected during the Dressrosa arc.
