So in January I had penciled in an annoucement for somewhere around... middle of next year, as I figured chapter count to hit at least high 70's/low 80's. Clearly not the case as this beats my expectation by 2/3 or 3/4 of a year. Black Clover is a series that does pretty well in the polls, but the sales aren't at instant star levels. Comparing volume to volume (ie 1 to 1, 2 to 2, 3 to 3, and so forth), it's a little ahead of World Trigger, but noticeably behind Nisekoi/Haikyuu!! levels. |

BONES is only good when its a wholly original anime or the story is already compete (BLast of Tempest) but even they can have variable quality (Soul Eater Not, ugh) zetsuen tempest never followed the manga, it is a bad adaptation by Mari Okada. |

The thing is that Nisekoi is the sort of series that peple seem to like to buy in volume form over reading them in the magazine, so it's more of an outlier. But yeah, comparing it to World Trigger definitely illustrates what you mean. I didn't know Black Clover struggles to sell volumes. Would this mean, then, that its presence actually helps sell the rest of WSJ? |
