well now its official.
even though MGS5 was insanely successful , kojima still left. this here pretty much officially ends the metal gear franchise cause if konami tries to make more without him,it will bomb faster than two shakes on a sunday.
guess they would have to put all their eggs on their precious yugioh franchise and allow it to go mainbase instead of the 4kids path they had the anime series going since the beginning. or their next project is successful. otherwise this gaming company will be going down the same path as akklaim and thq. OUT OF BUSINESS!!!!

Who knows, there are people that actually like Twin Snakes more than the original. People would still buy Metal Gear games even without Kojima, as long as the gameplay is good.

Konami doesn't deserve Kojima. He'll find a better place to go.

Except not, because Konami (for better or worse) seems to be making a bigger profit thanks to their involvement in the mobile market. Metal Gear Solid, though indeed a big seller, is still rather niche, and getting rid of Kojima, though a stupid move, is probably not enough to make them go under. Hell, if they decide to focus solely on mobile games from now on, maybe their profits will just go up.

There is also the gambling and Pachinko industry. At the moment all of Konami's gambling enterprises are foreign since gambling is illegal in Japan. However, there is currently a push in Japan to make gambling legal in time for the Olympics and some people are speculating that part of Konami's restructuring is due to this.

i know that much considering that i was one of them that bought the twin snakes remake for the gamecube. but the only way i can see any metal gear game that would be good without kojima would be the remake of the original two metal gear games that took place before shadow moses and back then there were calls for it considering how good the graphics was for twin snakes.

highly doubt that will happen if the solely focused on mobile games. they have already abandoned the Castlevania franchise which alienated their fanbase as well as the Contra franchise, and with kojima gone, any chances for a possible zone of the enders 3 have gone out the window.
so what's the only franchises they have on their banner? well there is the yugioh franchise which is trashed due to crappy decision making on both the TCG and anime series & its worse on the US side, and those pro evolution soccer games which doesnt sell for crap since the popularity of EA Sports FIFA franchise haven't waned at all. so yea, their in a serious and ugly crapstorm.Especially when it comes to the US fanbase & this restructuring wont save them.
BUT that whole restructuring to keep with the times in the event the govt makes gambling legal in time for the Olympics isnt that farfetched either. and there have been promise with some of the mobile games. so while it is possible they would solely focused on mobile games and thrive, i highly doubt that. so dont be surprised that in next 5-10 years that this company would be six feet under and another large company buys them just like what warner bros did with akklaim before it got restructured into netherealm studios which is unfortunately will be konami's fate for the foreseeable future.
Though i really really hope i am wrong about it happening.

The thing to note though is that Acclaim and THQ went out of business for differing reasons. Acclaim due to making horrible games that eventually caused them to go bankrupt, THQ making a boneheaded gamble that caused the same effect.
