It's tough everywhere.

they should consider it as a temporary thing (or side job) and find a job with more stability.

Why job hunt yourself when you can dupe others into paying you to encourage them to do it? Hang on...they're just an employment agency!

I don't get it. If they're in an idol group, doesn't that mean they're employed? Of course, the group is supposed to be targeting third year students who can't join search yet according to the article. I know schools in Japan often have rules against having jobs while in school. So then are they being idol singers for free? If so, that's pretty bogus.

Such rules normally apply only to high school students, not those in college.

Yup, that's probably a true story to be told to future idols.

If all goes well, a retired idol will be able to have an occupation that might offer a stable payout.

Most idols work as a idol until around 20 yo.
After that very few stay in the music, acting, advertising world.

Most of them become regular working woman/men, after that age.

During the time as a idol they have to be at school and have good grades. If not, they lost they job as a idol. Many quit the idol work sooner to go to college.

Just try to look in the net what happened to previous members of Morning Mosume and AKB48. Many of them now are working married woman, with no connection with the artistic world. Very few stay as singers, actors, or Seiyous.

When they become a idol they know that very few stay at the music, acting world, but they give all to have that small chance to become a artist after been a idol for a few years.
The final goal is not just be a idol, is to be a artist after spend some years as a idol. They look at the idol world as a artistic school to become a famous singer, actor when become older.

That's why they and their parents don't mind sign that contracts that during the idol years they have to behave in a certain way (no boyfriends/girlfriends, no drink, no smoking, have good grades, stay out of scandals). They know is only during the time they stay as a idol. They can have normal relationships when become a famous artist, singer, actor.

From Idol to AV Idol? Not sure, but I don't think it's impossible.

But anywho, the culture of stable jobs in Japan is pretty much dead since 1991. And women have a additional hardship in the working market... So I think cynicism is what we're going to have here. And in the latest World Crisis, even the until-then storm-proof Pornography was hit.

No choice but to be cynical, ladies and gentlemen.

porn.. eh.. given they can post video on porn sites

piracy is a problem

if it's sex industry you want to get into

might as well be an escort a couple of hundreds for 1 hour? probably 1 per day is all you need unless you are greedy 3+some?

but it's not a job you can do forever either.. so when you can't do it anymore.. married some stupid rich guy who believes in giving second chances Twisted Evil then you are set for life.

this is reality.

google "famous athlete turned escort" .. you will find some interesting read-- the woman was a married woman with kids...mother/wife by day.. escort by night.. true story
