As a long time Tenchi Muyo fan, I hope this time it will actually be good and will actually resolve the love hexagon and give the OVAs a proper ending.

This news is nostalgic for sure. I haven't heard anything good about Tenshi adaptations from this century so I'm a little skeptical.

The 3rd season kind of killed it for me. I may pass on the 4th.

More Tenchi Muyo is always welcomed for me especially with the original seiyuu cast. But wait why isn't Yumi Takeda reprising her role as Aeka ? Shocked

Update: Just googled and found out that she retired from the seiyuu business. Too bad i wish if they continued to at least voice her older character(s).

I didn't watch Ai Tenchi Muyo yet (i hope it gets licensed), did anyone get the chance to see it ? How's Aeka's new seiyuu ?

This could be an interesting study in how harem series both have and have not changed over the franchise's run.

While I'm glad to see more Tenchi coming, this could end up being very good or very bad (or... something in between). If Kajishima has near-full creative control and chooses to adapt his increasingly-questionable, psuedo-canon doujinshi he pumps out on a regular basis we may have another OVA 3 on our hands.

On the other hand, if there are others in positions of power on the production team to reign him in a bit from his usual doujinshi shenanigans, we could end up with something more along the lines of the first two OVAs, which I think most of us can agree would be the ideal situation. Fingers crossed.

I could be mistaken, but I think she retired. They cast Haruhi Nanao as Ayeka for Ai Tenchi last year, so unsurprisingly she'll be reprising the role for OVA 4.

Still have the laserdiscs of the original OVA's. But reading all the explanations on the 'sequels' makes me wonder if this still harkens back to the original OVA's.

So hopefully they will do a good job regardless. Didn't really like the third OVA though.

Love Hina, Girl's Bravo, Ai Yori Aoshi, and Shuffle to name a few. While it is not the normal outcome for sure it does happen from time to time.

Yes! I sure wasn't expecting this. This is fantastic news. You keep thinking that there won't be any more Tenchi Muyo (let alone more of the original), and then they bring it back again.

And hopefully, they'll do more Geminar at some point after this. Smile

That would be nice, though the nature of the beast is such that I don't see it ever really having an ending. The closest would probably be Tenchi marrying the girls (and as I understand it, the creator of the show has said that Tenchi spoiler[does end up with them all, which would fit given that the Juriyans do polygamy]), but even if they did that, they could just make more later if they wanted to. The story is just too open, and most of the characters are pseudo-immortal. It would definitely be nice though if they actually got Tenchi married rather than leaving it all in limbo.

As it is though, if they do do more Geminar at some point, there's some chance of seeing more of Tenchi's future thanks to the fact that Geminar takes place about 15 years after the 3rd OVA. They were quite careful in Geminar to not say much about that though - just allude to some of it in a way that referenced the original characters without really giving much away about what happened since the 3rd OVA.

Since the last OVA already showed that kenchi was already on his way to be born....this series will not only serve as a sequal to tenchi muyo but also a prequel to Geminar.

I am hoping they might at least also use this opportunity to explain as to why kenchi was sent into Geminar in the first place....it was implied it had to do with the third goddess...but it never went into depth..i hope they might clarify a few things in this too.
