But he's not totally wrong, I don't think people were looking forward to this anime for its quality of writing. That would just be a nice bonus. |
If this show develops Mamori's and Mirei's relationship with each other to be beyond just sexual conduct, I'll be impressed. It'll still be a trashy show, but at least it's a cut above mindlessness. |
Yeah when you hear about a bad show like this it would be really impressive to see the fans enjoying it for the story rather than the insane fanservice which tends to make almost any story mindless.

This looks good. I haven't found much I really want to watch this anime season. I hope it'll be a fun time.
Lady L's design... is not good. It's sort of almost okay looking, but doesn't quite make it. I tried messing around with the picture in Paint and found that if the part of the waist right below the boobs was just a little wider it'd look a lot better. I'd put that picture here to show everyone but I don't know how to do that.
Basically: her waist is too high up, by the time it hits her boobs it should have started to go outwards (think hourglass). Instead, it continues to go inward. This makes her stomach look weirdly 'A shaped.

Before I watch this (not at home as of this post, I've traveled thus cannot watch it yet), is it a Yuri series? Despite the image suggesting so, it's not uncommon for it to be just a trick. Venus vs Virus has been listed as yuri but when I saw it, there was none of it whatsoever.
I just want to be absolutely sure what I'm getting into.

It really says a lot about this show when we can identify the women based on their unique breast sizes.

i really wouldnt go that far.
sure the characters dress like that, but that is it. this series is definitely NOT an ecchi/fanservice version of utena otherwise it would be a serious outrage in the otaku community.
basically this is typically another fanservice version of ikkitousen & Queens Blade where in the latter, men are practically non existent and the only relationships are yuri based.

Yeah, any connection to Utena is purely superficial. Maybe it has a bit of inspiration as Utena's influence has reverberated in anime for 18 years now, so that connection would be the echo of an echo.

R.I.P decent comments and anime
Hopefully in the near future:
R.I.P yaoi/uri and inappropriate fanservice, with lame anime
Don't worry you won't be missed
welcome back decent comments and epic anime.
This dialogue dipicts a common goal everyone has... To strike down fanservice along with the rest of the worlds suffering, this is the beginning of a new age!
(Nothing serious just bored)

It's one thing to have your own opinions but you're getting close to soapboxing at this point on this topic in various threads. We get it, you don't like fanservice, yaoi, yuri, and pretty much everything that is not hetero straight cookie cutter morally safe it seems. If this sort of show is not your cup of tea I wonder why bother posting in a thread like this for such a show? If you want to be against all this deviancy that's your call but you don't need to go on about it over and over. Thank you.

People probably bitched about the death of anime when Iczer-1, Genmu Senki Leda, Fandora, and Dream Hunter Rem came out in 1985. It's not only a wrong opinion, it's 30 years and multiple crises too late. If anything, just the overproduction of series is the most harmful thing we have to face, there's just that overabundance of choice in which BDs to purchase because there's only so many fans with only so much money to spend.
So even if you had 5 ultrasexed trashy anime a season, it's not that much, so long as they're all distinct from each other. (But the 'one dude at magical girl academy' is such a specific phenomenon that even I'm starting to notice and get annoyed.) You can hardly even follow everything that airs every season, and then there's also that backlog of over 1000+ titles just for late-night otakucentric TV anime, forget OVAs and movies.
So maybe skip this and all the grief and anguish it'll bring you and instead watch One Punch Man, Sakurako, Owari no Seraph, Underwater Ray Romano, and Gundam IBO? And if that's not enough, check back just through the last 8 seasons, you'll more than likely add another 20 series to a backlog. Maybe some Arslan Senki, Parasyte, or Blood Blockade Battlefront? Maybe it's just me, but I can't ever imagine a period where I have nothing new to enjoy, I'm usually just overwhelmed and just stop looking for new shows to add because my plate is overflowing.

Getting back on the topic at hand Yuri does play a big role in this show but based off the trailers there's more to it than that and who knows maybe even a good story most Yuri shows are known for having great plots rather then just a fan service fest basically what I'm saying is don't judge a book by it's cover besides this show may just take us all by surprise.

I think any significance or writing is going to take a backseat to just being totally shameless and erotic. That's fine, it's clearly what the director is aiming for, but he did actually manage to get that done in Qwaser and Manyuu Hikenchou, although those were both adaptations.

Does anyone else love the fact Kikuko Inoue's character says "I'm 17!" just like Kikuko and her 17-year-old cult? So perfect. I hope there's an "Oi, oi" "Hai, hai" joke in there at some point.
On another note I'm disappointed Akira is a guy. I was really hoping they were a girl, similar to "The Black Prince"/Shimagamo Mama in Uchouten Kazoku.

I've said it before and i'll say it agan; Give me good action AND good fanservice, and i'll call this one a winner. No one is pegging this as AOTS, but i hope they at least does their two hooks right, rather then focusing 80% of their time and talent on fanservice and throws in the action as an afterthought.

Yeah, makes me believe that the clearly milf character she's playing is not actually 17.

Or you do both, at the same time. Which again, the director has demonstrated his talent for in two previous shows. There's no need to sacrifice one for the sake of the other.
