Q4-2015 Round of the Anime Character Guessing Game, October through December 2015.
Q3-2015 Round Q3-2015 Results Rules - Goal 1. A character's picture will be posted, and everyone has to identify that character. Note - Check the last 2-3 pages for the latest pictures that are in play. Rules - Images 2. Acceptable images include: 2A. Part of a character’s face or body (Example Here) 2B. A character thought to be not that popular (Up to supporting characters only, so characters like “random girl sitting on a park bench” are not allowed. Character of choice must be significant to the plot and/or is recognizable) 2C. An image wherein the character doesn’t look the way he/she usually does. (Example Here) 2D. Only images from anime episodes that have been in circulation for at least a week may be used. Trailers and promo videos don't count. 2E. No manga images. The art in the anime version may differ from the manga version. 2F. All pictures must be at least 100x100 pixels in size. Also, editing (other than cropping) is not allowed. 2G. If people other than yourself are likely to question whether what's being depicted is actually a character, then you shouldn't use the image. 2H. Avoid posting pics containing spoilers. 2I. Images from any title labeled "pornography" by the Anime News Network encyclopedia are not allowed. Rules - Guessing 3. Anyone can make a guess, but it’s only one guess per person, per picture. For guesses, you have to include the character's full name or popular name/s (for characters with multiple names) and the series from which character came (Series' popular name is sufficient). 3A. Spoiler tags for guesses are mandatory. Guesses without spoiler tags will not be considered official. 3B. No fake guesses. If you already know your guess is wrong, then don't post. Guesses that are obviously fake will not be counted official. 4. Only the one who posted the image can verify whether a guess is right or wrong. Participants will be notified through the thread. 5. Whoever correctly identifies the image first will be the next one to post a picture. 6. If no one gets it right after 10 guesses (or if no one gets it right for 2 days, regardless of the number of guesses), anyone can post a picture, but it’s first come, first serve. This rule shall also be observed if there is no new pic in 24 hours. 6A. If there is an outstanding guess (made within the time limit) that has not yet been confirmed, wait for confirmation. If there is no confirmation in 24 hours, rule 6 will take effect. 7. To reduce load time, pictures should only be in .jpg format and not exceed 100kb. 8. While it may be possible to find the answer through Google search by image or other image search engines, this defeats the purpose of the game, so their use is prohibited. However, clues provided for the image in play are fair game for search engines. Rules - Clues 9. Clues are optional, but only 4 clues (1-2 clues within the first 24 hours and 1-2 more clues in the second 24 hours, if needed) are allowed. Spoiler tags should be used because some users may not want to use them. Clues can be given at any time, and participants can also ask for clues, but make sure it doesn't exceed the two clues per 24 hour period rule. 9A. Clues should only be in word form. 9B. Clues must be directly related to either the character or the anime the character is from. Rules - Passed Turns 10. Turns passed by other users are open to anyone on a first come, first served basis, however: 10A. If you scored more than 20 points in the previous round, passed turns are off limits. You are good enough at the game to earn one. However, to keep the game moving along, if a turn has been open for 12 hours or more, anyone can take it. 10B. If you were the most recent user to accept a passed turn, you cannot accept another. Allow other users to have the chance to play. Rules - Scoring 11. Correctly identifying an image earns one point. I’ll be acting as referee, and I’ll keep score. If you have any questions, comments and other concerns, just PM me about it instead of posting on the thread. Rules - Miscellaneous 12. No off-topic comments or chat-room speak. A moderator has asked for this rule to be added so the thread won’t get locked. Rules - Mini-games 1. Mini-games are filler, a way to keep the thread active between main game images. Mini-games can only be initiated if there is NO main game picture in play. However, rule 6 prevails over this rule. This means that, if there are no new pics for 2 days, ANYONE can post a new pic and that pic will be for the main game. 1A. Please indicate that you are playing the mini-game. Simply type "mini-game" in bold at the beginning of your post. 2. It’s first come, first serve. 3. Pictures can be: 3A. A picture of a significant item from an anime. “Personified” objects are allowed to a certain extent (Such as Alastor of Shakugan no Shana). Keep in mind that the object should be more inanimate than alive. Such pictures must come from scenes within the anime they are from. 3B. A picture of a memorable scene from an anime. 3C. “Living things” within a picture are allowed, as long as they’re not major characters (or it is almost impossible to tell who the character is). 4. Mini-games end as soon as the main image is posted, whether or not the mini-game have been answered. At that point, the answer to the mini-game can be revealed. 5. There is no continuity between mini-games. Mini-games are separate and distinct from one another. 6. No points from mini-games can be garnered. 7. The main game rules should also be observed during mini-games. In fact, the main game rules will always supercede the mini-game rules. |
