BOME's figure of Asuka looks incredibly beautiful.
It is massively pricey, but I bet anyone that has the cash to buy it will feel proud to own it. |

It looks nice and all, but it feels like the figure is missing something really important that would make me spend $7,000.

If I'm going to pay that much it would need to be life sized.

The painting and details is nice, but the pose is pretty bland. When collecting figures, I'm more about the atmosphere but that's just my taste (bonus point if it has a natural, candid looks). And there's also the limited factor and sculptor's name that made collector considering to buy.

The price blows away even the most expensive of GSC figures (that being their 1/6 scale polystone Guts, which is a bit over $1,000, and is actually taller than the Asuka figure, though only due to Guts gigantic sword). I calculated the scale of the Asuka figure to about 1/3 scale. Couldn't really get a good price on 1/3 scale figures as it's a pretty rare scale, with many of them being for small characters mainly from Rozen Maiden or from over ten years ago. But comparing them to the somewhat more common 1/4 scale, the price is much higher ($7,000 versus less than $200). The price is probably due to the limitedness. Detailing is nice but it's not something I would add to my collection, even if it were only two or three hundred dollars. It costs more than my collection combined, but by less than an order of magnitude.

You can get a life sized one almost $2000 cheaper. https://otakumode.com/shop/521c1da88bac0e5927000061/Shikinami-Asuka-Langley-Life-Size-Statue-Plugsuit-Ver |

It's the face. She has no expression, which makes it look like Rei wearing Asuka's suit and a wig. And not in a good way. |

Is there a piece of diamond in there for that price tag?

I get why this figure is so expensive..
everything is hand painted even her eyes, and lots of time spent for painting, and the figure wont be the same if get into mass production. |

Well, it's indeed a nice figure and all, but as it was already said, It doesn't have anything special, apart from the sculptor's name and a rather, uh, strange scale? Haven't really seen anything of its size before.

You could say the same about other figures and they might be more or less expensive. Add a hospital-scene Shinji and it could be hundreds more. |

If I have the money, I will definitely buy this. But even rich people will still think more than twice.

Actually I think all figures are hand painted. Maybe not with a brush but all of them are painted by people. You can't get that level of detail just putting it on a machine.

While I can appreciate the work that goes into these, for something as pricey as that I'd want the proportions to be better. She looks to be 11-ish heads tall, which is tough to pull off correctly (I think 12 heads are only used in fashion drawings, which have very stylized proportions). Plus, her neck is too long, but her arms seem too short and they look very stiff.
