Can you imagine what would happen if Disney did this? FOX News would flip their shit.
Good on'em. |

Did Hello Kitty just allude to proxy wars? Almost every news channel would flip out if that was ever said on American television.

While seeking world peace is great for any and all countries throughout the globe, war, sadly, is always a possibility for all countries as well. However, I believe that all countries should always do their best to avoid any sort of warfare against one another.

I think this shows, again, quite nicely how much everyone except Abe and Co. wants to stay pacifist.

Japan should be a role model for the world to accept pacifism. This is because most countries of the world seems to take living a normal-peaceful life for granted to which some unlucky countries including my country Somalia, wished to be living a normal-peaceful life like everyone else on earth.
Shinzo Abe, don't change the constitution. |

Pacifism is just like everything else. In moderation only. Just imagine if the United States was a pacifist country during WWII. We'd all be saluting the Nazi flag from our radioactive hovels. FDR saw the writing on the wall, and dragged us kicking and screaming from our isolationism.

World War II is an outlier and not really applicable to warfare today. It's just about the only war in my six-plus decades of life where "good" and "evil" seem so starkly contrasted. Most other military actions by my country, America, have been imperial in nature designed to preserve access to markets or access to resources like petroleum. I, too, agree that across-the-board pacifism is not a viable option, but the number of military actions that might qualify as "just" wars are pretty few in number. IS might qualify as "evil," but that struggle has to be decided by the people living in the Middle East themselves.
Maybe Mattel should consider bringing back the "Peace & Love Barbie": |

I disagree with the revising the Japanese textbooks idea unless it mentions about the Rape of Nanking and the Pearl Harbor bombing because it would confirm how Japan had both been a WWII victim and offender. While I don't agree with the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, I also don't agree with either of the other two events.

That is so far from the truth. World War II is the classic example of what happens when Peace is more important than what is Right. |

I don't know how you suggest that it's good to promise not to wage war while also acknowledging the existence of Islamic State. Japan is far enough away, but the idea that a Middle Eastern country could say "no" to the capability to wage war with IS on their doorstep is what I'd use if I was writing a cartoonish exaggeration of hippie pacifism, except apparently it's not an exaggeration.

Humans are a creature that naturally will pick fights. If it isn't outright war, it's gang violence (a huge one is breaking out in South L.A. at this very moment), or bullies in the schoolyard, or bickering between neighbors about fence ownership. As long as their are disagreements about something, especially if that something is shared by those in disagreements, there will be war.
I would love to have world peace as much as anyone else, but it goes against human nature and thus just a pipe dream in the present. |

That story was proven to be a fake and fearmongering since that came from a tumblr post orginally that's now private, it's sad that the mainstream media is still eating it up. |

I remember that some Japanese bookstores or schools got upset for having Barefoot Gen. I see this nothing as nothing political correctness to try and hide the mistakes of their past.

Because if you won't listen to war survivors, you will listen to fictional merchandising mascots.
